Elixir

โ€œIs it so different?โ€ Tallie asks. โ€œYour world, this planet called Earth, floats. It floats in the sea of a vast universe.โ€ Simonโ€™s eyes flare. โ€œFloat! Earth most certainly does not float. In fact, Earth is fallโ€ฆโ€ โ€œAre you bonkers?โ€ Tallie gives a fast assessment of herself and Simon. โ€œNo wind rushing past, feet on… Continue reading Elixir

Hot and full of caffeine

A coffee called Toffee Crunch makes me think of a caramel colour, a sugary smell, and a chewy sweet taste that goes on and on. However, the coffee in front of me is none of those things. The smell is bitter and burnt and I am struggling to find anything defining about the taste. Itโ€™s… Continue reading Hot and full of caffeine

More to come

Big news, that I couldnโ€™t wait to share with you. Book 2 of The Ember Files is now a completed rough manuscript! This manuscript comes in just under sixty-thousand words and is twenty-two chapters long. The editing begins, but I feel like things are on track for a 2023 publication date. By Shari Marshall -… Continue reading More to come

Back to coffeeโ€ฆ

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that my run of tea has ended. This week we are back to virtual coffees. What are we sipping? You might ask. Coffee this morning is a butter pecan. The smell of it is butter with a sweet nut. It is almost black in my… Continue reading Back to coffeeโ€ฆ

If black licorice isnโ€™t a taste for you, you will want a rain check today.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you the last flavour of tea currently in my cupboard. This tea is called Throat Rescue, curtesy of Davidโ€™s Tea. It is an herbal infusion of licorice, fennel, nana mint, anise, ginger, peppermint, nettle leaves, black pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, marigold, and cornflower blossoms. With those… Continue reading If black licorice isnโ€™t a taste for you, you will want a rain check today.

The tea of milk & sugar

Good morning, can I offer you a cup of black tea? This morning, we will be sipping Davidโ€™s Tea Breakfast Blend. The loose leaf looks like a collection of black splinters with occasional reddish-brown twigs mixed in. It produces a deep reddish-brown tea. I would describe the smell as classic, a classic tea smell. And… Continue reading The tea of milk & sugar

If we were having a teaโ€ฆ

My tea this morning is a loose leaf of off-white, tans, oranges and brown. I hesitate to say leaf because it is a blend of tiny cubed dried fruits: apple, pineapple, papaya, cranberries and hibiscus. It has a sweet sugary smell. Steeped, the tea has no odour and is almost colourless. This Caribbean Crush tea… Continue reading If we were having a teaโ€ฆ

Chaga Tea anyone?ย ย ย

If we were sharing a hot virtual beverage this morning, I would ask you if you have ever heard of, or maybe tried, Chaga Tea? It is fungus from birch trees. On the tree it looks like charcoal. When steeped into tea, it turns the water a tawny colour. I donโ€™t think it has much… Continue reading Chaga Tea anyone?ย ย ย

Morning Coffee & Bedtime Tea

As we sip coffee this morning, I will tell you about the tea I drank last night. I was an herbal infusion of chamomile, valerian root, rosehips, hibiscus, peppermint, lemongrass and cornflowers. This caffeine-free tea is a bedtime tea call Motherโ€™s Little Helper from Davidโ€™s Tea. In my mug, the tea was a translucent orange-brown,… Continue reading Morning Coffee & Bedtime Tea
