What is in your coffee mug this morning?

I am at a loss for words regarding the smell of my coffee this morning. It is a soft comforting smell that is kind of sweet. It actually masks the smell of the coffee! The taste is soft as well and a bit creamy. For me that rich bitter taste of coffee that I enjoy is also blocked. It is a warm subtle coffee. I love vanilla. I love coffee. However, vanilla swirl flavoured coffee isn’t my top choice. If we were having coffee I would be curious about what is in your coffee mug.

If we were having coffee I would happily announce that if writing goes as scheduled I will end the year with 46 photo prompts. Not bad. I feel like it has been an okay year for writing. There has been ups and downs but overall I am happy. How about you, how do you feel your writing has gone this year?

If we were having coffee I would share a picture of my latest puzzle.

If we were having coffee I would also share my cookie experience with you. I tried making a cookie that I have never made before: gluten-free gingerbread. I was having a great time cutting out my fall shapes and I was feeling pumped about how I imagine the end product would look. However, I what came out of the oven was nowhere near what went in! I missed the step that says leave in the freezer for X amount of time before placing in the oven. They may not have looked pretty but they still tasted really good!

If we were having coffee I would share with you that I flew through reading Look Alive Twenty-five and Twisted Twenty-Six. I am not about a ¼ of the way into The Scam. I had to take a couple days after finished Twisted Twenty-Six and starting The Scam so that I could separate my reading thoughts from Stephanie Plum who is the main character in the Look Alive Twenty-five and Twisted Twenty-Six and enjoy Kate O’Hare in The Scam. The reading time was nice, but I don’t think I will be able to sustain that pace.

If we were having coffee I would send a big thanks out to Kathleen at Kathleen Howell Blog because last week she shared with me that someone she knows is planning to do a Halloween Hunt this year. I have been wondering what Halloween in a COVID world was going to look like and not really sure what my thoughts were on it but having no idea about an alternative. Anyway, I pitched the idea to my boys (7 & 10) and gave them the choice between a hunt and trick-or-treating and they really want to do a hunt. So, this year one room in my house will be turned into a scary place and candy will be hidden. A family Halloween movie will follow. Thanks again Kathleen, we are so excited about this event!

If we were having coffee I would also send a thank you to Gary from Gary A Wilson’s Stories in a Dime of Time. Last week I was desperately trying to convey the idea of passing the coffee pot as passing a talking stick. However, the words “talking stick” were alluding me like a fart in the wind. So, thank you Gary for helping me with those words. And now it is time for me to pass you the coffee pot.

  1. I hope your weekend is going well. I’m sure those cookies are delicious even if they look a bit (or a lot) different than expected… Gingerbread and molasses cookies are by far my favorites. Have a great week!

  4. Ah, this cup of french vanilla cappi is so nice on this chilly morning. A rare sighting of sun is happening as we await afternoon storms. I’m excited about this year’s NANO, hoping it will help me get my mojo back in sync. It’s been a few months of sickness, isolation, and mostly sleeping to heal here. Our church is doing “trunk or treat”… or, at least planning to. I won’t be doing that this year. I did stick out a few little scarecrows, but there are few children where we live so not really decorating. I enjoyed the stephanie plum series. I’ve tried reading 26 a few times, but can’t seem to get through it. The talking stick is very familiar to me as it’s in my culture and used quite often. Sometimes, we use the talking feather in place of the stick, whichever’s available at the moment needed. Have a great week, passing the coffee pot on…

  5. Thanks for the coffee, I’m having mine black. It is National Cinnamon Roll Day here in Sweden, if we were having coffee I would offer you one.
I also thought a Halloween hunt sounded like a lot of fun. We might do that here as well.
