You know it, and I know it, that coffee scent makes you feel good and it helps initiate that wake-up process. Here is something I didn’t know but learned from an article in Psychology Today Canada, “Coffee makes us feel so good because it is able to tap into virtually every reward system our brain has evolved. Hidden within that hot black silken elixir is a chemical that has taken over your brain by mimicking the actions of cocaine and marijuana.” If we were having coffee I would tell you I am still scratching my head pondering this thought.
If we were having coffee I would introduce you to this month’s theme: Mental Health. Canada’s Mental Health Awareness Week is in May, so I thought May would be a great month to explore mental health themed posts.
If we were having coffee I would say that this picture of Maddi pretty much sums it all up in terms of my week! I think I will call this photograph, “Can I look? Is it over yet?”

How was your week?

I’d probably have a pic of a dog who has buried its head under pillows or a blanket. 🙂

Interesting article. I have been known to give coffee up on a whim, for weeks or months at a time with no ill effects. But this morning my cup is close by. Time for cup #2

That is an awesome photo of your cutie 🙂 I believe the statement about coffee to be true. I usually wake up full of energy, and lately I’ve actually enjoyed my afternoon coffee more than in the mornings. This week felt long, due to the cold, but I’ve gotten some really good rest, and feel much better now. I hope your weekend was everything you needed it to be.

Hi Shari. I did know that coffee triggered some of the pleasure centers we have – but not to the extent that you mentioned. This does explain a lot about the near universal appeal of the humble brew. My oldest son and daughter would readily agree, but me, I’m not as sold on it over my real favorite – tea. Not sure why this is, but some drugs don’t work right on me either.
Last week was too long for me. See my coffee share for a few details, but suffice to say, I need this week to be different, less stressful.
I miss writing, but life (and sometimes death) happens and we have to roll with it.
Hope you have a great one coming your way.
