First we look.
The liquid in my mug is a burnt brown that fades into shades of cinnamon and peanut. Even in this summer heat I can see a faint mist rising.
Then we smell.
I take a deep inhale. The dominant smell is fruity and tangy yet sweet and raspberry. This smell is so strong that the bitter rich notes of the coffee are hidden beneath it.
That first sip is surprisingly bitter. The fruity tang is there but as an after taste reminiscent of a raspberry. None of is it unpleasant and I sit back to enjoy the contents of my coffee mug, Wild Raspberry flavored coffee.
If we were having coffee I would share a picture of the cupcake that we made for my nephew’s birthday. I used quail eggs in these cupcakes because one of my nieces can’t eat chicken eggs. I had never seen or cooked with a quail egg before. They are very tiny and a serrated knife is needed to open them. 4 quail eggs are needed to fill the place of one chicken egg in the recipe. The cupcakes turned out great.
If we were having coffee I would mention that I can’t believe summer is over and the kids go back to school in just a few days. Not only is the summer over but the year is almost over as well! I realized the other night that my 42nd birthday is creeping up on me too. I am not sure what the plan will be for that but I have asked for a cupcake.
If we were having coffee I would pass you the coffee pot and ask you, how have you been?
