This year at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils my theme is “this year I am writing a novel.” So, in light of that I decided to try and keep to the theme a bit with my A to Z topic. I decided on using writing words that start with each letter of the alphabet to create short posts.
Fabulist definition: a person who composes or relates fables; a liar, especially a person who invents elaborate, dishonest stories.
F – Fabulist

“How do you create such believable stories?” She asked.
“With practice,” he winked.
She stood staring at him. His head bobbed in acknowledgement of her dissatisfaction with his answer.
“Watch this,” he whispered as he brushed by her. She noted an instant change in his walk and stance as he moved into position to make contact. She stood to the side observing.
Several times during the next half hour she had to put her eyes back into their sockets before someone noted her shock and astonishment. They were buying his lies, the whole story hook-line-and-sinker. With each new question they ask him his story became more elaborate. He answered questions without hesitation as if he was telling the honest story of his life and not some elaborate creation.
As each new twist and turn developed it became more and more obvious why he was known to some as The Fabulist.

Ah this is one of the cool words I came across and have waiting for some fun story line to surface so I could use it.
Your muse beat me to it Shari.
Well done!

I like when my audience (small or large) is quite gullible.
It’s mean, sometimes. But, hey! Creativity!!

I use to love telling my younger family members wild stories and pass them off as real; I do it with my boys now. Get them worked up about it and then get them to start questioning if I am telling the truth or a story.

Ditto. It did get them thinking along the way. Then along came Google.
