We found Cord sitting on a pocket lip playing with a button. He didn’t look up which was good because I was staring gap mouthed.
“Cord!?” So much was wrapped into Glitter’s one utterance.
It found you?” His voice was rich and deep.
“Yes, is it hunting? Where did it come from?”
“Olivia found it on the front porch amongst old discarded items. It was like her dreams had been answered, but…” Cord never finished his sentence because he retreated into the impossible depths of the closet as a shadow fell over us.
“Shhh,” Glitter whispered. “It’s coming.”
We ran.
