Holiday Coffee

Today I plopped a Keurig Holiday Coffee Blend pod into my coffeemaker. Best description of the smell and taste is bitter. It’s a plain, strong, black coffee. For those of you that enjoy a light roast coffee, this is anything but. I’ll drink the full cup and have a second, but I was hoping the holiday blend would have notes of nut, vanilla, or mint.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that things have been a bit rough since we had our last virtual coffee. My boxer, Maddi, went to bed fine and woke up the next morning with a fever, she was lethargic and having trouble moving her body. We called the vet; her bloodwork didn’t show anything. Because she wasn’t drinking, they gave her fluid between the layers of her skin and an anti-inflammatory. She was a bit better that day, but down and out by the next morning. All that day she wouldn’t move, she was having muscle spasms . . . Back to the vets we went. X-rays showed nothing that would be causing her symptoms. She was given more fluids and an anti-inflammatory, and she came home with an anti-inflammatory that I have to give her for the next 7 days. The vet thinks that Maddi pulled a muscle! She is almost 6 and if the vet is right then a pulled muscle had her presenting like she was knocking on death’s door. If she relapses after the medication is done, then we go to a specialist. So, that was a stressful round.

If we were having coffee, I would share that the temperatures have been between minus 42 and minus 49 this week. Winter has arrived.

Jingles Marshmallow got married to Tinsel Sugarplum and they had a lot of fun painting faces while people slept, making potato chips, getting into wrapped gifts, getting stuck in the stand mixer, climbing in the tree . . .
