Coffee Time

It has a syrupy smell, and the taste is smooth and bitter. Can I offer you a hot cup of pecan pie coffee?

If we were having coffee, I would open with some follow-up to concerns about leaving posts here at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils. A few of you brought to my attention some issues with comments disappearing before they were published and links not working. I reached out to WordPress to see what I might be able to do about this because I want visitors to enjoy their time reading, commenting, and following links. Anyway, it turns out that it isn’t actually anything on my end. I was advised that it is browser issues on the visitor’s end of things. The following link was recommended for sharing: How to Solve Common Browser Issues.

If we were having coffee, I would say let’s talk NaNoWriMo. As of today (November 11), I should have 18,337 words written if I’m following the strict 1667-word count per day. I’m not. This had been my original plan, but I got behind on my first week of NaNo because of editing priorities. And this week I got distracted trying to create an Author Landing Page. Now here is a quote that I am applying to my NaNoWriMo participation.

“If the plan doesn’t work, change the plan, but never change the goal.” – Unknown

My current NaNoWriMo word count is 6836 (today’s writing time is pending).

If we were having coffee, I would pass you the coffee pot so I can hear your weekly update before I start pounding out my NaNo word count for the day. I’m aiming for a chapter, regardless of the word count . . .

psst, if you didn’t get a chance to check out my cover reveal post you can view it hear: Chimera and Curses. And if you like it, I could use a few clicks of support.

  1. I love that quote 💜I’m doing the Nanopoblano blogging challenge. These things are great but we have to be kind to ourselves too. Congratulations on any writing you do💜

  2. I’m always so impressed by those who tackle the NaNoWriMo challenge and also the April AtoZ challenge. It takes a real commitment to keep writing steadily day after day. I seem to have dwindled down to my one post a week habit for the last few years and can’t even imagine what it would be like to tackle so many words!

    1. I find that writing comes in waves. It depends on everything else that is going on, sometimes there is time and energy to write every day and sometimes there isn’t. Thanks for stopping in Leanne. Happy Sunday.

  3. Challenges are all well and good, but sometimes there are higher priorities, and your editing and such is a higher priority than daily word count for NaNoWriMo. Despite saying that, I hope you get into the challenge and get into a groove. Have a great weekend!

  4. Thank you for sharing that link – I’ve experienced a few anomalies on some blogs like getting a duplicate comment error, when I know I only commented once. I’ll see if anything is out of sorts on my end. Continued best wishes with NaNoWriMo!

  5. Hi Shari,
I would advise you to ask those who say they have problems with your site if they are using a VPN app or service. I was having issues only with your site and our friends in Sweden but turning off my VPN has always solved the problem – that oddly doesn’t happen with other sites. It’s not a US -> Canada thing because I never have issues commenting on Natalie’s site.
So it could be a VPN issue (if you’re reading this, turning it off again today worked) but the internet can act really strange, sometimes stranger than your stories. But your stores are fun – internet issues like crashing comments are not fun.

    1. Well, I am not very electronically inclined. WordPress checked whatever it is they checked on their end and this was what they told me. I use the internet and not VPN myself so I can’t say I know much about that either . . .
Thanks for stopping in, Gary. Hope you have a great week.
