There is an interesting separation of liquids in my iced coffee. The off-white hue of the milk has sneaking trails of light brown framing it and forcing a path through it. This milk and coffee mixture looks soft and silky. A slightly darker shade of brown splotches the sides of the cup and coats the bottom. This substance has the distinct gooey look of caramel.
The ice cubes tinkle as I lift the cup to my lips. It tastes more milky than caffeinated. I swirl it and sip again, this time through a straw. Soft sweet pops of caramel hit my tastebuds coupled with a milky coffee flavour.

If we were having coffee, I would share an experience from last weekend’s camping. We went out for a hike and were walking down a grass-covered trail. It was early morning and we were enjoying the dew on the spiderwebs along the trail. A glance at the ground showed a different kind of spiderweb. There were these white webs spun into the grass with a cone-shaped centre. We, of course, bent down for a closer inspection and were shocked to find that in the centre of that web was the spider! Wow, was it a large spider, dime size! In all my years, I have never seen a spiderweb on the grass like that with a tunnel down the centre and a spider hiding inside.

If we were having coffee, I would share that we have a new family board game. We are playing dice poker. Have you played? It is that time of the year when the weather encourages board games, puzzles, and crafts. I have a map puzzle to work on and some quilt patches to cut. Do you have any activities that you look forward to in the fall weather?
If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I posted a deleted scene from The Ember Stone this week. If you are interested in giving that scene a read you can find it: here.

Weekend Coffee Share is hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I hope you have a chance to join us for a virtual cup. Coffee share #86 or week 36 of 54.
Hi Shari,
Funny story, given the timing of your vacation and ours.
It was really hot as we went through Reno, Nevada and I needed to gas up.
It was still early morning and we had a long day ahead of us so after filling up, we drove across the street to a Starbucks. My wife just wanted to rest so I went inside to order because the drive-through was packed solid.
She ordered something I’d heard of, but never paid much attention to. Anyway, I was not sure what to expect for her drink. When I returned, she asked what I ordered because what I gave her was not what she ordered – except that it was but it was iced rather than hot. It seems that you can get this drink either way and the clerk did not guess her preference but went with the most popular and I didn’t know any difference.
But – she kept it and we drove off. Minutes later she reported that this was the best drink she’d had in a long time and, you must have guessed by now, it was the same drink you wrote about above.
She has since ordered it again several times and may in fact be on the road to addiction, so take care with yours. . .
Have a great week.

That is funny, Gary. When I first started to drink Starbucks coffee, a friend recommended the caramel macchiato (hot). I was in love with it. Then I tried the ice one and those pops of caramel that comes up the straw were heavenly. I use to order the iced one with extra caramel! I’m happy to hear that your wife liked it.
Thanks for stopping in, Gary.

Thank you so much for the coffee! I’ve never played dice poker, the kids and I often play regular poker after our Sunday dinner. I hope you are enjoying your weekend 🙂

I’m not much of a poker player and the boys always ask me. So, the dice poker game offers us a nice compromise. Hope your weekend is going well, Maria.

I have seen similar spiders. Yesterday I saw something odd. My dogs walked out of the house and plopped down so I just stood and watched. As I was standing, a weird wasp was bothered by one of the leashes. I moved it. the wasp then dug a deep hole in the ground were the leash was. I looked it up and it was a Great Golden Digger Wasp. Very cool. And less scary than the hidden spiders 😉 I hope you have a great week!

I had to google what a golden digger wasp is. I was going to say that I hadn’t heard of it, but I think that I have actually seen them and not realized they were wasps. I can’t say they make me feel any happier than the spider. Fun to observe from a distance I guess. Thanks for stopping in, Trent.

I don’t think they sting, so maybe scary looking, but… I’m sure the same is true with the spider – scary looking, but…
