This medium for recording information is cased with a decorative protective cover. Without even opening the pages a person’s senses come alive. A musky sweet smell clings to the pulpy ink stained collection of bound sheets. It is an aged earthy odour that carries the secrets of this book’s journey. In addition, each letter filled page whispers words of its story. The book is a comforting weight in the hand of any reader. The spine, well-worn, shows hints of the glue and stitching used to hold the printed work together. Similar to a precious gemstone, it is cut and polished.

My debut novel, The Ember Stone, is going from manuscript to paper back in June 2022. Please stay tuned for updates.
I am a lover of books. “Comforting weight” is an excellent descriptor — the feel of several ounces of bound pulp in one’s hands is uniquely satisfying!

I love the short but evocative description of a book. It evokes many fond memories even though I often read ebooks these days.
