Coffee News over Coffee Cake & Coffee

The cake is moist and sweet. Each bite reveals vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon and the crunch of nuts. The drizzle settled down into the layers of crumble right down into the cake and it adds a rich caramel-y flavour. It all blends together to create a delicious flavour. It even looks pretty on my plate. The cake is sandy brown on the inside and it is littered on the top with various textures and shades of brown: mocha, peanut, wood and brunette. I have warmed my slice and now it sits waiting beside my steaming mug of coffee. Can I interested you in a slice and a warm beverage?

If we were having coffee I would apologize for missing a few of this month’s virtual coffees. With my writing goal for this year I am hoping to catch up for a virtual cup once a month. So, here we are. How are you? How has your January 2021 been going?

If we were having coffee that we tried a new recipe earlier this month: Gajar Ks Halwa also known as Indian Carrot Pudding. You can find the recipe that I used here at Honey What’s Cooking. One of the girls at physio is from India and she was sharing with me that she had made Carrot Pudding over the Christmas holidays. She made it sound so tasty that I decided to give it a try. It really is a tasty dish!

If we were having coffee I would share this appropriately themed puzzle with you. It was a gift from my boys at Christmas. It even has the coffee recipes on it. Fun stuff.

If we were having coffee I would ask if you have seen the mandatory mask sign in any stores that reads, “Masks are mandatory in this store. Smiling behind them is highly encouraged”? I saw this sign the last time I was out and it had the effect of making me smile!

Hmm, if we were having coffee what else could I share. Oh, I ordered an Ancestry DNA kit, received it and sent it back in for analysis. I am very excited about it. I have wanted to do a kit for so long.  Curious, mostly. Have you done a DNA kit with Ancestry DNA or one of the other DNA companies? What was your experience like?

If we were having coffee I would share that January 25 was my mom’s birthday. This was the first birthday without her. I wrote a little post to her: here.

If we were having coffee I would share with you that we are still trying to sell my house. We decided to change relators to see if a different advertising plan and new face might make a different. The new relator did a virtual tour of our house that I think really turned out well and in a COVID world might be helpful for a house sale. You can check it out: here.

If we were having coffee I would share with you that my next scheduled virtual coffee will be the end of February, probably February 28th. Between now and February 28th I will try to stop into have a read of you virtual coffee posts. And now it is time to pass you the coffee pot and sit back to listen as you share the details of your week.

    1. Yes, the cup makes me laugh too! And yes birthdays without the people proved to be more emotional challenging then I expected. Thanks for stopping in Beaton, hope you have a great week.

  2. That cake looks, and sounds, delicious! I’m sure it would go great with a steaming hot mug of coffee. Back when DNA kits first became available, which was through National Geographic, I got my parents each a kit for Christmas. The info they got back then was very generic. I’d be very curious to see it now that millions of people have done them. I’m sure it was tough celebrating your mom’s birthday without her for the first time. Good luck with selling your house, and, of course, with your writing!

    1. I like the idea of giving the kit for a gift. I was actually going to get one for my husband but he has a bit of a conspiracy theory opinion on it so I didn’t bother wasting my money, haha.

Thanks for stopping in. Hope you have a great week.

  6. Mmm, your coffee cake sounds delicious. Love the puzzle, but I don’t know where you find the time to put them together. The carrot pudding looks amazing. I need to add that to my list of things to do. Hope you have a great month. 💗

    1. Sometimes house cleaning, laundry or dishes get set aside so I can snap a few puzzle pieces together, haha. I haven’t had much time to work on my current one, it is an old bookstore. So for now it sits unfinished… Thank you for stopping in. Hope you have a wonderful week!
