Can I get you a hot espresso pouted over condensed milk and served with ice? It is a refreshing and sweet drink for a day at the end of August. Or perhaps you would prefer a chilled coffee with coffee ice cubes? Maybe an espresso milkshake? Or if you prefer we can have our regular coffees. After we are settled I would open with, “How was your week?”
If we were having coffee I would tell you that I am doing the “what to read now?” dance. Shortly after our last virtual coffee I finished the last book in The Wheel of Time Series. Loved the series, but I am still digesting the ending though. Anyway, that leaves me wondering what to read. Should I read Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive Series? It was recommended to me a while ago. Is anyone familiar with it? I have already read George Martin’s Game of Thrones Series and Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings. Has anyone read anything by R. A. Salvatore? Or what about The Shannara Series by Terry Brooks? Marion Zimmer Bradley? Help please, any thoughts or recommendations?
If we were having coffee I would tell you that my husband took the boys and the dog and went out camping while I had to work. What a weird feeling for me because I haven’t been home alone overnight since I don’t know when. Originally I was thinking it has been since my oldest son was born 9 years ago but really it would have been closer to 13 years because before the kids when my husband was away the dogs were home with me. So to be in the house without the husband, the kids or the dog was a real strange feeling.
If we were having coffee I would share with you that September’s theme is fall. And with that in mind I would share the obvious that there are just a few months left in my Post-a-Day journey. I have my themes planned out. October’s theme can loosely be termed ghost stories. I am looking forward to November because it is non-fiction month and December is travel. Looking forward from there I am planning to do photo prompts in 2020 on a post-a-week schedule.

Well, I am going to retire and read a bit of book two in The Fox and O’Hare series: The Chase. I think it will be a fun and light read while I continue to ponder what to read next.
Have a great week.

Weekend Coffee Share is hosted by Eclectic Alli. Hope you will join us for a virtual cup of hot java: here.
Series you might like: Darkover books by Marion Zimmer Bradley; The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny; The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R. Donaldson; Discworld books by Terry Pratchett; Elric of Melnibone by Michael Moorcock (which is part of his The Eternal Champion series); Earthsea Cycle by Ursula K. Le Guin. Yes, I’ve read all of them and enjoyed them. Many of them are collected now in one or two editions. Darkover, Discworld, and Covenant aren’t, as far as I know. Enjoy!

Thanks for all the great options Stu. I will spend some time looking those up later this weekend (hopefully today.)

I would suggest the “Green Rider” series by Kristen Britain.

Thank you for the recommendation. I did a fast google search just to have a look at the book covers (always the first draw of interest) and they look promising. I will do a more in depth look at them later. Thanks again.

Shari, I bet that was strange, being in the house all by yourself! It doesn’t happen very often that I don’t have my daughter, but when she’s not with me it’s just so quiet. I always have my dog, so I’m never completely alone.
Have you read any Nevada Barr book? I really like her. They are a little different from the books I usually read, since they always have some sort of crime involved. The settings are always in a national park. The main character, Anna, is a park ranger. I think I’ve read 5, or 6 of her books. There is a ton. I just finished two this week, and gave them both 5 stars.
I hope you’re having a great weekend!

It was very strange especially without the dog because even if everyone else goes out Maddi usually doesn’t go. I haven’t read any Nevada Barr but a series with a female park ranger as the lead sounds interesting. Fast google search show this as the Anna Pigeon Series. I will have to add it to the list I am compiling.
Have a great week.

Yes! All the books in the series I’ve read have been page turners.

The Stormlight books are awesome. They do come with a fairly steep learning curve though, and the series is not finished, but if you’re willing to wait on the future books, I’d say go for it!
