Into the Mug

She wanted to tell a story about a great adventure that centered around coffee. Every day she went to the coffee house and waited for inspiration or adventure itself to find her. She wasn’t going to make her deadline and that pressure wasn’t helping the creative juices flow and it certainly wasn’t helping her look like an approachable person looking for conversation or adventure.

She sat now listening to the hum of activity around her while she stared at the empty coffee mug willing it to refill. A slender hand reached into her frame of vision and slide the empty mug out and replaced it silently with another before retreating to the back kitchen. She returned her energy back to willing the coffee mug to do something only now she was willing it to provide inspiration and adventure. The coffee and the mug accepted the challenge and she slowly began to fade to a mist and was sucked right into the coffee mug and she laughed and smiled as she was surrounded with coffee news.

If we were having coffee I would ask you how you are enjoying this month’s theme of flash fiction? Do you have a link to a flash fiction piece you would like to share?

If we were having coffee I would apologize for being a bit behind on reading blogs and responding to comments. Summer changes time commitments a bit with no school, work seems busier and then there are summer holidays which usually include camping and I do not take electronic for that… Anyway, I wanted to mention a great post that was associated to last week’s The Penis Chronicles presents “A story for Parents: The Rock Quarry Adventure by Gary Wilson. It is a great story that clearly shows boys and their adventurous sides, haha. Hope you get a chance to check it out.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I tried a new flavour of coffee earlier in the week and it was very tasty. It was a peach mocha. It had a very subtle peach flavour and a nice sweetness. Interestingly, a month or two ago I went into this same little coffee shop and tried a peanut butter mocha that was also very delicious. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next time I visit.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I finished reading book 13 in the Wheel of Time series and was surprised all the way through. I have only one last book to read in this series and it is such a mixed feeling I am struggling with. Part of me just wants to get to it and find out what happens and how it all ends while another part of me is kind procrastinating and feeling like all too soon I will be saying goodbye to an old friend. Anybody else familiar with that feeling when you finish a great book or a good series?

  1. I love reading a series of books, and then it’s so very hard when you realize that you’re coming towards the end. It’s like you have to say goodbye to the characters. I like loong books and long series 🙂 Good ones of course! Thank you for the coffee!
