Welcome to book review thirty-five of fifty-two for this year’s virtual coffee shares. I’ve picked books related to the theme here at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils—coffee, books, and puzzles.
Books Can Be Deceiving
Author Jenn McKinlay
Published in July 2011
The publisher is Berkley
Available in eBook, Audiobook, Library Binding, and Mass Market (304 pages)
Private Investigator Mysteries (Books) | Amateur Sleuths |Science Action & Crime Mysteries
I am still on a break from my themed reading, but I still wanted to share a title. This novel is book one of fifteen in the Library Lover’s Mystery series. It has a Goodreads rating of 3.84. The related Goodreads reviews can be read at Books Can Be Deceiving.
If we were having coffee, I would share that I have been thinking about the April 2026 A-to-Z challenge. Yes, I know we are months away from it, but the challenge is a big commitment and requires early prep. So, for the upcoming challenge, I have decided that I’m going to take part using a different website: A & O Cottage Rentals Ltd. More on that as my ideas develop.
If we were having coffee, I would share a picture from my book signing event a couple of weeks ago. It was a good day, and I was fortunate to have some interesting conversations with people who stopped by my table.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I finished reading Blood of the Fold. Book four in the series is on my TBR list. I decided to re-read The Hobbit, so I’m working my way through that. I am also reading The Writer’s Complete Fantasy Reference. On deck to read are:
- The SpellShop
- Blood Bound
- Blood and Bone
- The Cinnamon Bun Book Store
- The LET THEM Theory
Well, virtual coffee friend, here is the coffee bean grinder. How was your last week of August?

Thank you, Maria.
Library renovations sound great, but it’s too bad that they didn’t close in sections. I hope that you have something to read this weekend.

It can be hard to find reading time; life is so busy. I carry a book all the time, so I can read whenever an opportunity strikes. Thanks for stopping in, Kathleen.
