I love being an author. Writing, creating worlds, and editing manuscripts are my favourite things activities. Getting those stories published is an amazing feeling, but part of what fuels all that is the desire to share those books with readers. In my opinion, there lies the hardest part of the battle—visibility.
How do readers find out about your book? This is a struggle for Indie authors and traditional ones too.
Here are a few of the places you can advertise. I recommend trying platforms and tracking where you have success. I have used these platforms. However, here is what I have found about advertising. What works for my books might not work for yours. Advertising has a trial-and-error period to it. Some authors have had success with Facebook ads, but it didn’t work for me. That’s okay.
- Written Word Media
- LitNut
- Fussy Librarian
- Book Award Pro
- Bookfunnel
- Bargain Booksy
- Booky Call
- Goodreads
- There are various places to submit your book for editorial reviews and reader reviews.
- Several places offer author interview opportunities.
Bookbrush is a lovely program for creating book covers, but it also offers tools for creating advertising. Depending on your plan, there are book trailers and instant mockups. I love using the free mockups. Here are a few mockups for my books.

I wrote this post for letter A of the 2025 A-to-Z blog challenge.

Remember to create a BookBub author account and add your books there, too.

A good start with author advertising. I doubt I will ever do it but it’s interesting (and daunting) to see what an author has to go through to sell books.

What a wonderful set of resources. I do believe I have a book in me, just not sure when she’ll let herself out 😉

That is wonderful, Melissa. If you need any help, send me an email. I love helping fellow writers (writingsparklebooks@gmail.com).
