This coffee smells like raspberry jam. The smell takes me to a summer breakfast table at my grandmother’s cottage with warm buttered toast, a container of fresh homemade jam, and a cup of hot coffee. I don’t even need to taste this coffee to know that I will drink it again. My coffee is Donut STOP Jelly Donut flavored coffee.
If we were having coffee, I would share with you that the revised edition of The Ember Stone is available for purchase (eBook sale). In the next few weeks, I’m planning to make some blog tweaks, writing related stuff. There will be a few writing updates built into that. Stay tuned . . .
If we were having coffee, I would share that it was an unproductive week. It isn’t a bad thing, it just is. It’s a nice change from the usual craziness. The change in pace this week gave me a bit of time to participate in a Carrot Ranch Literary Community 99-word prompt. You can read my share here: The Lost Book.
If we were having coffee, I would share that I finished my last Foreward Clarion review and picked up The Way of Kings. I read to page 532 and then set it aside for another review book. I don’t have a link to share for any of these great reads yet, but hopefully soon. I’m almost through my 2023 reading list, and I’m starting to build a new one. What are you reading? How are you doing on reading through your 2023 TBR list?

Weekend Coffee Share is hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I hope you have a chance to join us for a virtual cup. Coffee share #23 in 2023.

Okay Shari,
That coffee sounds amazing but if it were me, I’d be more tempted to track down a real jelly donut.
Congrats on the progress with your first story. I’m so pleased that it’s going so well and hope you only see more readers find what you do so well.
Is the smoke gone enough for you to enjoy the outdoors yet?
I’ve heard that eastern Canada is really getting beat up with fires this year.

Hi Gary. Thanks for stopping in. Coffee plus a donut would be a lovely way to start the day, but not today though.
The smoke was good for about a week. It started to roll back in though and by last night the sky was overcast from it. So, I don’t think today will let us get outside much. It all kind of depends on the direction of the wind and how close the fires are. We have two currently pretty close to us again. We could use rain.
Hope things are going well for you and that you have some outside time planned.

That coffee sounds weird but interesting at the same time. Glad you had a restful week and it gave you time to catch up on a bit of reading.

Jelly Donut flavoured coffee does sound a bit strange, haha. I like it when it sounds different because I’m hopefully it will taste different and I can add something new to the list of eat and drinks. Last summer, I believe it was, I tried a peanut butter coffee from a local coffee shop. It was interesting enough in flavour that I went back again for another, but it must not have been doing very well because they had taken it off the menu. You just never know.
Thanks for stopping in, Leanne.

I think I can smell your coffee……Mmmmmm. I like those unproductive days/weeks where nothing is planned, though sometimes during those times is when I end up getting a lot of other stuff accomplished.

Yes, I agree they are nice every once and a while. I sometimes get other stuff done as well. For example, I didn’t mention this but I cleaned the front hall closet out, swept and washed the floor in there, and donated some of the footwear that doesn’t fit my boys anymore. The closet looks lovely. It was a task I hadn’t had time to do until now.
Anyway, thanks for stopping in Karen. I hope you have a lovely weekend.

It sounds like a mellow week was in order after all you’ve been up to to get your book into the world! An ebb and flow is necessary for sustainability, I’m glad you’ve allowed for it 🙂 Hope your weekend is lovely and the week ahead filled with whatever you need it to be filled with to continue your forward momentum! I look forward to seeing your blog tweaks!

When I read this, I immediately want to spend some time at your grandmother’s table! Wow, some good toast with raspberry jam and coffee.
Nice for you to get some quiet times! We all need that sometimes. I mostly read before I go to sleep and mostly with Apple Books on my phone these days. I mostly read non-fiction but have a few books on the list (most of them are like documentary or autobiographies than fiction though). Currently I’m reading “The laws of Brainjo” by Josh Turknett, about the process and science of learning music. Then I have some Italian books I’m going to read.

Shaping a musical mind, interesting reading. I enjoy reading a few pages before bed as well, something about it just settles the body and lets the mind refocus away from the events of the day.
Thanks for stopping in, Susanne. Hope you have a great week.
