Sharp Taste

This morning I’m drinking Cookie Jar Double Chocolate Chunk Cookie flavoured coffee. It’s a rich darkness in my mug, but my nose doesn’t detect the notes of chocolate that I thought would be present. The taste is bitter black coffee with hints of mint. It’s not unpleasant but it isn’t what I was expecting.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I am on pins and needles waiting for editorial reviews for The Ember Stone to come in. The release date for the revised edition is June 8th. I have a few things left to prepare and the reviews will be part of that. Exciting stuff.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I decided to work on a puzzle. Typically, I would wait till fall to start one, but the weather and the fires haven’t really allowed for the outside time I’m craving. So, I’m redoing a puzzle that I haven’t done in a while. The picture below is from the first time I completed it.

If we were having coffee, I would share that there are birthday festivities happening in my house this weekend. My youngest son turned ten on Thursday night. Friday night (tonight) he is having a couple of friends sleep over and then on Saturday I’m dropping them off at another friend’s birthday for soccer, hot dogs, and fun. He should be tired by Saturday night. Since it will be just the two of us on Saturday night—my husband is working and my older son is on a camping trip learning to sail—I’m planning to have a fruit tray, popcorn, and a movie. Just keep it relaxing.

If we were having coffee, I would pass you the coffee pot. Do you have any weekend plans?

    1. Thanks, Jennifer. So far the boys have been loud but happy. It is very entertaining to listen to them communicate with one another; they are all very funny little boys. Hope you’re having a good weekend.

  1. What a full and busy time! I hope the celebrations all go smoothly and your editorial reviews come through in good time! So exciting! That puzzle is a sweet one, I’d happily re-do it as well 🙂

    1. Thank you, Melis. The birthday celebrations did go well and I am happy to share that my editorial reviews made it to me on time. As for the puzzle, I try to collect ones that I know I will enjoy doing more than once. I should find a puzzle friend to trade with, but I haven’t yet. Happy Sunday.

    1. Thank you for the kind words, Gary. Now that I have completed a few freelance editorial reviews for some authors, I have a bit of a different idea/understanding of the whole process. On top of that, it’s interesting to learn the different ways individual people read, understand, and respond to the same reading.

Heading your way to see if you have a coffee share . . .

    1. Do you know what I really like about this puzzle? The pieces are wood; very durable and nice to work with. The pattern has some trick sections, but that’s part of the fun.

  4. I am such a puzzle girl. This is a beautiful one. A wood puzzle would be super. I do mine mostly online and the pieces when they come close act magnetic. That one looks engaging and relaxing at the same time. Good luck with your reviews. Today is June 8th, so I’m hoping you hear good news. 🙂

      1. It’s better than chasing them when they fall on the floor. I also like that they are facing the same way they need to go. LOL. The Lazy Puzzler! 🙂
