Coconut Cream Pie Flavoured Coffee

I love the smell of my coffee today. It fills the air with a sweet almost lime-lemon fragrance mixed with the bitter notes of coffee. I would expect this java to have an oily sheen, but it doesn’t. However, my first sip is reminiscent of oily coconut. Its flavour is both woodsy and roasted nut. It isn’t an unpleasant taste and I don’t mind it, but it’s the bouquet that I love.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that my proofreading course is complete. It was a good course. My favourite part was learning the proofreading symbols. As the course was coming to an end, I decided to register for another (I can build toward an editing certificate, but I’m not 100% sure about doing that). My new course started on May 3 and it’s called “Editors & Editing: An Introduction.” I will keep you posted on how it goes. My goal is to produce a more polished manuscript to my editor so we can focus on other things.

If we were having coffee, I would share that we went to Edmonton for my son’s birthday. It was a nice break from the regular grind.

If we were having coffee, I would share a link with you to my interview with Topshelf Magazine (or the link to the magazine itself: here). I’m happy with it and it was a great experience. In addition to that writing/reading news, I want to share a link to a Mother’s Day promo for sci-fi and fantasy books. There are some lovely-looking novels on this list, I encourage you to take a minute and check them out: Mother’s Day Sci-Fi and Fantasy Gift Ideas. Or if you are looking for your next great read or building your TBR pile check out this link: Cast a Spell, Witch Books for May.

That’s my update in a nutshell. What’s new with you?

  1. I’m drinking Iced French Vanilla. Refreshing.

I finished my Thursday class (Oral Communications) yesterday: great class. Two more classes to bring to an end for the semester: another Oral Comm and then my Understanding Movies course. Trying to find some remote work for the summer (and beyond).

You didn’t mention the AtoZ. Sad it is over?

    1. Understanding Movies? That sounds like a neat course. Good luck on the remote work hunt, I don’t imagine it will be to hard for you to find something.

Yes, you’re right I didn’t mention A-to-Z ending. I’m looking forward to a break from the everyday blog check-in. It was a decent year though. I do think I will take a pass on next year’s challenge though.

  2. Yay for finishing your class. I remember some of the very basic editing symbols but not all of them. I can’t believe I have never bought my mother or mother in law books for mother’s day! That is a great idea. I think I’m going to pull a whole little basket together for them with some chocolates and other “things” too. Thanks for the idea.

  3. I like chocolate with coconut coffee. Mmmmmm I can smell the aroma. I had hazelnut with blueberry the other day at work. A coworker accidentally ordered an extra one, so she shared it with us that wanted to try or taste some. #Weekendcoffeeshare

  4. Congratulations on reaching your goal and finishing your proofreading class. I hope that helps your writing. You will have to let us know how it works in the long run. 🙂

    1. Adding coconut oil to her coffee? Interesting. I wonder what that would taste like, I imagine it would give it an oily appearance. I might have to give it a try, I’m curious how it would flavour the coffee.

  6. I’m interested in hearing about the next course. I should probably do some, I just have zero time right now. Hope you are having a good weekend and have a wonderful week ahead 🙂

  7. Great stuff Shari,
I enjoyed the ambiance you built with your description of this coffee. I must have made a face when you said coconut oil, (I’m not a fan of coconut anything) but otherwise, it sounded great.
I read your interview with Topshelf and even explored the magazine some. It looks like a great group to be known by.
It must have been both fun and entertaining doing the editing class. I know I love learning stuff like this and then a trip to Edmonton. . .
I’ve not traveled enough, because I looked it up and not only have I not been to Edmonton – I’ve not been anywhere in Alberta. Thinking back my travels in western Canada, I was a starving student when I lived in Washington and my wandering was limited to BC, Vancouver and Victoria.
You crammed a lot into this post but this was a very enjoyable visit.
    Blessings.

    1. Thank you for the support, Gary.
I don’t feel like I’ve travelled enough either. There are so many places that aren’t that far away that I should make some time to explore. I’ve been to Vancouver once, but not Victoria. I would like to go there though and I would like to visit Washington and a few other places in the States. I’ve done Boston, California, and Florida but that’s hardly a fair representation. One day . . .
