My children and I watched the Jack Black Goosebumps movie a few years ago. It was our first Goosebumps experience together. I had read R. L. Stine’s Fear Street Series in my teens and really enjoyed it, but I hadn’t read Goosebumps. After enjoying the movie, we found Zombie Halloween at the bookstore and bought a copy to read…
The following review was originally post on Goodreads: July 2022.
Zombie Halloween is an intense and frightening story for children ages eight to twelve (grades three to seven). Graveyards have a timeless quality of spookiness for every generation of children which makes them a splendid setting for a scary story. I love the cover on the special edition of Zombie Halloween. The oranges, greens, and purples make the cover pop while rooting it firmly in the theme of Halloween. This story successful brought a thrill of fear to both my boys from the cover straight through the storyline. As an adult, I enjoyed the read as well.
R. L. Stine plays on the idea of imagination versus reality and adults versus children in determining which realm they are dealing with. There are some great twists in Zombie Halloween. The zombie part of the story has a satisfying ending. However, that doesn’t seem to be where the adventure ends…

My son loved RL Stine’s books. I don’t think we read Zombie, but he’s got kids now, so I’ll look for it when the two get older.
Congrats on getting to Z.
I’m going to finish Vincent’s Descent in a little while.

I used to love goosebumps as a young kid! I watched the Goosebumps show from 1995, the one episode that I always remembered was called Stay out of the basement (killer plants). Not sure if there’s a book on that one though, it’s been sooo long!

There are 2 Goosebumps movies now with Slappy. We’ve watched the first one, but my 9-year-old hasn’t wanted to try the second one yet. Thanks for stopping in, Alexandra.

Thanks for stopping in. Congrats on book two\! Hope sales are going well.
My book two came out at the end of March, a humorous urban fantasy. I have a third that will fall under dark urban fantasy but I don’t have a release date yet.
