Coffee Statement & Coffee Question

If we were having coffee, I would start our conversation with a statement and a question. Since I started participating in the weekend coffee share in 2016, I have tried to start my share with a coffee or coffee related description. I have exhausted my coffee flavours. Do you have a coffee challenge idea that I could write about in the upcoming weeks?

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I received this lovely fall-themed coffee mug for my birthday. It holds a good-sized cup of coffee. This image didn’t capture it, but there was a fun swirl of coffee steam rising from my mug when I photographed it.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that my writing space is set up and I wrote in it for the first time on my birthday. I still need to dress it up with some inspirational stuff, but it’s up and running. Sorry, the pictures I took are poor quality so I will need to get some clear ones. Interestingly, my children have suddenly taken an interest in being downstairs and my husband has as well. So, we shall see how much of a writing sanctuary this spot actually becomes.

If we were having coffee, I would share some writing and reading news. I posted a fun self-interview author post on my birthday. If you want to check it out, you can find it here. As for reading, I am reading book 2 of The Fall of Shannara, The Skaar Invasion. I’m feeling sad that the series is coming to an end. I really have enjoyed reading these books. Terry Brooks has a new series out so I will be checking it out at some point, but I might try reading the Pre-Shannara books or The Magic Kingdom of Landover. I am a way off having to make that decision yet though.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I don’t have much else to pass on this week. I would slide the coffee pot to you with a smile. How was your week?

    1. Ah yes, it’s your birthday this month as well, isn’t it? If I’m correct, then happy birthday to you. If I’m incorrect, then happy un-birthday to you. Haha. Hope you have a great weekend, Trent.

    1. Thank you, Joanne.
And, yes there is something nice about but at the same time, there is a craving for just a few minutes of alone time. Even the dog follows me around. That said both my boys were out of the house for sleepovers on the same night for the first time ever. I was lost without them. Haha.

      Thanks for stopping in, Joanne.

  1. Hi Shari,
When I was a scout leader, we had this young man who loved – loved – LOVED coffee. Our adult leadership had decided that coffee was not to be allowed because there were younger boys in the troop and they didn’t want to risk influencing them by allowing the older boys to have it, so none of them were allowed to have it.
This did not sit well with some, shocking – right?
Anyway, he had to make a presentation and he chose to argue for his beloved coffee and I was amazed by the facts he cited for why coffee was good for us.
He caused a very pleasant stir (pun only slightly intended) .

You could make a weekly study of the health impact of coffee. I know now there are lots of opinions on this and I bet you would find the all interesting.

    1. Coffee drinking and the appropriate age are interesting schools of thought. My youngest son wanted a sip of my caramel macchiato yesterday, and my husband an instant no. I passed my youngest my cup, gabbling on the response, and he was very unhappy with the bitterness of even that sugary brew. My Spanish teacher (pre-COVID) grew up in Columbia and she said that every morning before school she was given coffee with milk and sugar.

I like the health benefits idea. Perhaps I will write a few test posts (without sharing) and see how they flow. Thanks for the idea.

    1. Thanks, Leanne. I wish you an easy and quick recovery. I need to have surgery on my hip socket, not a replacement yet, the surgeon wants to go in and clean debris out of the socket. I know that I should do it because there is pain, but it scares me a bit . . .

  2. Happy birthday! I love the mug! The subtlety of the leaf and a nice gray.. I need a writer’s space as well.. I had to do some rearranging of my office, perhaps I can do something with it, right now it’s set up for work. Good luck with your hip!

  3. Hi there, I sadly have no ideas for coffee commenting, but I really like that cup! The coffee-related news of the week here is that the shop I’ve been ordering coffee beans from seems to have problems because this is the second time they don’t send my order (last time they did after a month) so now I’ll have to skip the idea of supporting a local-ish company and have ordered Lavazza from another online shop further away.
Happy belated birthday, and enjoy your week!
