Weekend Coffee Share

Mi madre está enferma. Ella está en el hospital. Yo estoy muy cansado hoy. Yo tambien estoy triste.

For years now she had enjoyed the feel of the warm mug in her hands, the nutty bitter odour rising in a breath of steam, and the bitter flavour as it traveled over her tongue on the journey to her stomach. It wasn’t until the events of the past week that she realized the comfort she found in a full bodied cup of coffee.

If we were having coffee I would apologize for missing our last virtual coffee date. So, much has been going on and my brain was not in its most creative format. But here we are now. Let’s raise a hot mug and send out positive vibes of happiness and good health.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that homeschool is moving along. We have gotten into a grove; there are still some more challenging learning days then others but overall its going okay. We have done some fun projects and played more board games then I have played in my whole life. We are maintaining our Friday Night movie night routine and the last couple movies were “Back to the Future” number one and two. The boys really enjoyed them.

I was recently challenged with one of those chainmail like Facebook posts where you pick 10 music albums to share that influenced your music preference. You post one a day for 10 days with no explanation and tag a new person each day. I typically don’t participate in these but I decided that I would give this one a try and as of today, day 3, I am having a lot of fun with it. Do you participate in any of these chainmail like posts on any form of social media?

If we were having coffee I would ask you how you have been and what is new?

  1. Hi Shari. Been missing your posts.

I do SOME of the chain things, more when I’m looking for a distraction. I’ve done the Album cover one, no explanation. FB gave me a slap on the wrist because I posted the cover to Led Zep’s Houses of the Holy. Yes, someone reported me for that. Ah, the puritans. I can only assume things about whoever did: none of them are too nice.

If you want some Improv games/exercises you can do with the kids, let me know. I used a lot in my varied classrooms and could back up all of them with what the students were getting out of it, either educationally or for self-growth.

    1. Sometimes I am surprised by the things that offend and the things that don’t, but I guess I shouldn’t be since it is something subjective.

What kinds of games/exercises? We just started Animal Projects and a mould growing experiment; they seem excited about both. Although, some self-growth exercises might be fun.

  2. Hi Shari.

It’s been a while for me too. The only real thing I’ve written was the coffee share posts and I even missed one of those due to work distractions. Now I’m trying to get the creative juices running again and took on one of your photo prompts. It felt good to roll something out even if it was pretty dark for my normal fare.

About those FaceBook games and challenges, I find that I’m rarely interested in them so can’t recall that I’ve ever accepted the challenge of doing one. There always seems to be something more interesting to work with.

Since I’ve worked from home for about 15 years, this SIP is not new. What’s new is everyone else being here so much and having to mask up if I go anywhere. Our kiddos are too old to home school any longer and one is trying to get engaged.

We are having a grand time getting to know our future daughter-in-law.
If you must be shut in – this is one great way to do it.
