Our last Coffee this April…

If we were having coffee on this last weekend in April I would tell you that the end of this year’s A to Z challenge is just around the corner. My thoughts are on the letters Y and Z and as I sit and ponder these letters I imagine that I can see them drifting in the coffee steam rising from my mug.

If we were having coffee I would ask if anyone can answer my letter X question? And if we were having coffee I would do as I have done the last couple weeks of coffee share I would like to share a few R to X posts that I enjoyed this week:

If we were having coffee I would tell you that the Easter bunny brought the boys a couple dice games last weekend and we have been enjoying playing them. My older boy got Rory’s Story Cubes. There are 9 dice and you divide them between players and each player rolls one dice on their turn and builds on a story based off the picture on the dice. Lots of fun. My youngest got Tenzi which is a 4 player game. Each player gets 10 dice of one colour and you all roll and try to get your dice to have the same number on all of them. Also very fun.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I am very happy that this was a short week. Nothing overly exciting to report from the week to be honest. Saturday was ball hockey and soccer. It is a great way to spend the morning and the boys are loving playing this year.

If we were having coffee I would tell you Wednesday’s posts will be returning to “The Penis Chronicles presents…” For those of you who haven’t had a chance to read my Wednesday posts The Penis Chronicles is a weekly platform for sharing childcare stories, advice & etcetera. I should probably take a second to tell you what May’s theme is here at Writing is Communication. May’s theme is mental health.

If we were having coffee it would be time for me to ask how your week was and sit back to enjoy your stories…

  1. If we were having coffee I would tell you about the best “feel good” story of the weekend – after Director Ridley Scott pays for a New Jersey high school to put on another performance of their “Alien: The Play”, the film’s star Siguorney Weaver shocks them all by attending – here is more if you are interested – https://johnrieber.com/2019/04/28/sigourney-weaver-attends-alien-the-play-high-school-students-freak-out/

  2. I love Rory’s Story Cubes. I have the three sets (haven’t looked if there are more, now) and have used them with small groups of kids for them to jump start writing or telling their own stories. It’s great for the kid who says “I can’t think of anything.” For those who can, it gets them off of retelling a known story and works well with sequential telling and how to reintegrate things from close to the start.

  3. Thank you for the coffee this week. I admire that you take an challenges like the A-Z challenge, and go with it all the way to the end! Good for you! I like your intelligent, and witty writing voice. It’s always a pleasure having coffee with you. I imagine that it would be great having coffee with you in real life. Have a fabulous new week!

  4. I wish I had had a short week last week. I get a shorter week this week, oddly enough. Are you happy A-Z is almost over or would you prefer it to continue on a little longer?

  5. Hi Shari – Glad you liked my post about the sago grub! It’s the last day of the April A to Z Challenge, and in some ways I feel relieved but I also know that I miss the consistency of posting every day! Will you miss the challenge? 🙂
