Coffee Blog

If we were having coffee…

If we were having coffee I would start off by saying blogging this year has been very different than last year. As some of you may already know I am typically a post-a-week kind of blogger, but this year I am challenging myself to be a post-a-day blogger. There are only a few days left of January 2019 and so far I have posted every day. I am feeling pretty happy about how it is going so far. Constructive criticism is welcome.

Some highlights of January’s post a day have been my increased participation in The Weekend Coffee Share. This group was one of, if not the first, blogging group that I joined when I started blogging in 2015. It has changed hands a few times and the community members come and go but it is still one of my favourite places to share. The other thing that January has seen is a weekly post (Wednesdays) of The Penis Chronicles which I have a lot of fun writing and sharing.

So, if we were having coffee I would tell you that this past week has felt a bit long for no identifiable reason. It just seemed to go on forever. I am happy that the weekend is on us. The weekend has plans for children’s haircuts, mom’s lunch out, shopping, homemade gluten-free fish and chips, and a few other adventures. How come he weekends rarely feel long?

If we were having coffee I would tell you that there was some great participation this month with the contrast theme. One of my favourites was The Prom Date Adventure and A Manic Mannequin Memory. Thanks to everyone who followed along this month, and to those who commented and participated as well. If we were having coffee I would ask if there are last minutes comments on contrast?

If we were having coffee I would whisper next month’s theme to you over the steam rising from our mugs, “Secret Life, but shhh don’t tell.” With that I would smile and ask you how your week has been?

  1. Hi Shari. The contrast theme was brilliant and fun. Think of nature and how animals react to their environment. Both contrast and motion catches their attention and if we can use words to present a surprising contrast, the result can be compelling for your reader. You know; in my coffee share this week, I wondered out loud why a new story of mine did so well that it became my second most popular ever in just 3 days. I think your question caused me to think more about contrast and getting someone’s attention and I’ll bet it was my title, “Of Crashes and Christmas”. I’ll bet that title posited a question as to how these two could possibly be related and thus drew in more readers. Lacking contrasting evidence, I think I’m going to go with this and use the principal to name future stories. I’m looking forward to your next theme. Thanks for allowing me to be part of the January theme. Blessings.

  2. It is ought to blog every day, but I try and usually get close. I think I’ve missed every Sunday in January (and will tomorrow) and two other days. Anyway, it is good to see you a little more often 🙂

  3. I smiled when I read your post! I know, why are the weekends so short..lol. We did kids haircuts earlier this week. My daughter LOVES going to the hairdresser. She has great hair and always gets compliments. Me on the other side have always wished for thicker, fuller hair. You’re so awesome posting every day. That’s great! When I did photography as a business, a few years back, I always did. Now my goal is two posts a week, with fewer grammatical errors. English is my second language, and I started blogging 9 years ago to improve my English. I had to look up every other word by then. I love blogging, and the friends in the blogging community. Last summer when there was wildfires all around me blogging helped to keep me sane. Best of luck with your writing, and have an awesome weekend!
