For an interview with BookView Review, I recently answered the question, “What does literary success look like to you?” If we are talking about success within the book world, then literary success includes experiences where I interact with people who love novels and the secrets that shift in the shadows behind those books. A Google search shows the definition of success as, “. . . a term that refers to the attainment of a favorable or desired outcome. It can be measured in terms of wealth, favor, or eminence. Success can be viewed as the achievement of what one wants to achieve.” Google explains that the evolution of the word success comes from the root word of succedere—meaning to come after—and became successus, defined as a happy outcome. It’s a subjective concept that means different things for different people and in different aspects of life.
