The loose leaf is a surprising blend of colours: rich brown, light brown, tan, orange and something with a bluish hue. There are whole hazelnuts in the mix, and hazelnut is the dominant smell with undertones of chocolate. Once steeped the water is an orangy-brown. The smell is subtle and more apple and chocolate than nut and chocolate. It’s a smooth sip with apple notes that blend with toasted hazelnut. This morning we are drinking Hazelnut Chocolate Pu’erh Tea. Can I offer you a cup?
If we were having coffee, I would start by saying that I have three things to share during this virtual coffee. First is my contribution to this week’s Photographing Public Art Challenge (PPAC). Given the season, I’m sharing some images of Christmas trees set up in local businesses.

If we were having coffee, I would share the image of my new writing space that I have been setting up. The puzzle is for the desk top, under my laptop. I would like to draw attention to the new light that I picked out for the space and we have a gas stove installed to keep the chill out when I sit for hours on end writing or editing.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that Chimera and Curses is available to Advanced Readers (in exchange for an honest review). If you are interested this link will take you to Bookfunnel to download your copy: ARC link.
So, what’s new with you?

Setting up a new writing space is exciting. I have recently done it myself. I love it when Christmas Trees start appearing around town, even though I don’t have one up at home.

I have to pop into the mall today for a haircut and I plan to talk a stroll past the Santa Photo setup. It is usually a pretty nice display. Thanks for stopping in, Jennifer.

Shari, Thank you for your weekend coffee share and PPAC contribution. It’s fantastic that you’ve set up your writing space. The new light and the Christmas trees are all pretty. Congratulations on your writing progress, too.

Thanks, Natalie. I think I enjoy the light a bit too much. I had originally gone into the store shopping for a fancy, sparkly, glass chandelier but realized that wouldn’t match anything in my house. Then I saw the round one and thought I’d give it a try. It fit the space perfectly.
Have a great weekend, Natalie.

I was attracted to your title. I am a very strong caffeine once a day. I hope all goes well with your writing! #weekendcoffeeshare

I didn’t use to enjoy strong coffee very much, and I would dull down even a light coffee with milk and sugar. Nowadays, I enjoy strong black coffee and I am a 2 cup kind of girl. Thanks for stopping in Denyse.

Hi Shari – I really like how your writing space is separate, but still part of the living area. It’s nice to have a dedicated space to write (and to be warm with that heater is an added bonus). You’re going to love it.

The space is set up in the basement so depending on whether anybody else wants to hang out downstairs it could be private. I’m pretty excited about it.
Have a great weekend, Leanne.

I love the idea of a puzzle on the desktop. Will you put it under glass to protect it?
Your writing nook looks super-cozy.

My plan is to puzzle-glue it and then pour that resin stuff over it. I used the resin to protect a tabletop (an old table) after I refinished it and it worked really well. It created a glass-like surface that is pretty and wipeable.

The writing space looks nice. I guess if you are writing fantasy there is no better inspiration than Middle Earth. Hope you are having a great weekend!

That’s not a bad desktop cover! Very nice to use a puzzle for that and I love the LOTR theme. Your tea sounds fantastic and reminds me I need to go to our local Scandinavian tea shop to get some more fancy teas.

Our local tea shop closed during COVID. I was hoping it would be re-open but it hasn’t. Happy shopping, I hope you find some tasty tea flavours.

I really like the clean, minimalistic look of your writing space. No distractions, I like it! The lamp is beautiful. Creating a writing place for myself is one of the things I look forward to the most when I move to the new house in the spring. I really need one.
Have a wonderful week!

Yes, my goal was limited distracts with a clean feel, and welcome to write in. I hope you will share pictures in the spring when you get all settled in. Have a great week, Maria.
