Welcome to the thirty-third book review of fifty-three. As you know, I used to provide freelance book reviews to several review companies. It was a great experience that introduced me to new authors and their wonderful books. Each week this year, I’m opening my Weekend Coffee shares with a link to a review I’ve provided. Reviews are three stars or higher. The genres range from picture books to fiction and nonfiction titles.

If we were having coffee, I’d share that I’m forward-thinking about April’s A-to-Z challenge. I didn’t take part in 2026, which is the first time in years. I’m hoping to take part in the challenge in 2027, and I’m considering themes. It’s a challenge that requires a lot of work. So, narrowing a theme down early is an excellent idea. Does anyone else participate in the A-to-Z Challenge?

If we were having coffee, I would share that I have been sharing a photo a day on my social media platforms for the past 264 days. It’s part of a mindfulness and gratitude practice. My goal is 365 days. I’m contemplating switching to a daily post after I reach this goal. Posts would be positive or humorous, just daily good vibes.

If we were having coffee, I would share that my older son and I went to Canada’s Wonderland with some company that was visiting Ontario. I haven’t been to Wonderland in twenty or more years, so it was interesting to see how it’s changed. We had a fun day.

    1. That makes sense, Jodie. The A-to-Z is a commitment that pulls energy from other projects, which is why in April 2026 it wasn’t a fit for me. That said, one year I did book reviews for my A-to-Z theme, and finding titles to fit the letter of the alphabet introduced me to some books I wouldn’t have otherwise read.

    1. Thank you, Natalie. I was surprised to snap a photograph of the mountain with no people in it. I’m happy with how it turned out.

      Agreed about the A-to-Z challenge and time consumption. That is one of the reasons I like to start planning long before April.

  3. I participate in the A to Z Challenge, off and on. I do much better if I plan well ahead of time. and have most, or all, of my posts drafted. That way, I can spend April commenting on other blogs instead of writing posts.

    I don’t have an idea, yet, for 2027, so I’m not sure this will be a year that I participate.

      I am the same as you in terms of planning and drafting well ahead of time. One of my favorite things about the A-to-Z is the blog traffic that it can generate as well as helping me find new blogs to follow.

      There’s still lots of time to come up with a theme. I’m leaning toward reviews because it keeps in line with what I already post about, but I’m not 100% sure yet.

    1. Yes, the last photo is Canada’s Wonderland. That’s the iconic mountain. When I was a child, we used to be able to walk through it and under the waterfall. However, due to safety issues that stopped a long time ago. Now they have divers who jump off during specified show times. There are a couple of roller coasters that are built into the mountain now too.

      Canada’s Wonderland is an amusement park with lots of roller coasters. It does have a water park section, but I’ve never accessed that part of the park. It’s located close to Toronto, Ontario. It was kind of interesting for me because when I used to go to the park as a child, it was in the middle a big field with nothing around it. Now it’s surrounded by subdivisions, busy roads, and stores.

  10. I do like the A-Z challenge and find it fun but the last few I have done I never finished. It was easier when my blogging habit was daily. i always use the same theme of my travels because this is varied enough and a lot of people never get to Australia so they find it interesting. Planning a lot ahead is definitely the way to go.

    1. Sometimes finishing the challenge isn’t in the cards, and that’s okay. I think travel as a theme is interesting. I love travelling, but it isn’t something I get to do often, so I enjoy reading about other people’s adventures.
