If we were having coffee, I would share that I am reading Blood of the Fold. The epic fantasy is the third book in the Sword of Truth series. This is a longer book from my summer reading pile, which I am almost through with. After Blood of the Fold, I have three titles left, and I added one of them to the pile last month. I have built my fall reading pile: Of Blood And Bone: Chronicles Of The One, The Let Them Theory, Blood Bound, and The Cinnamon Bun Book Store. What’s on your to-be-read pile?
If we were having coffee, I would share that I miss puzzling. June was the last time I worked on a puzzle. I plan to start a five-hundred-piece dragon puzzle sometime soon. I have completed it before, but it has been a long time. This is a picture from my first time finishing it.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I find it hard to believe we are halfway through August. The school year is just a few weeks away. Teachers in Alberta have a second vote about striking. Their first vote was something like 95% in favour. Our school district is urging parents to make alternative school arrangements. Honestly, I am worried about the children’s education; they lost so much schooling during COVID. A lengthy strike could be harmful to their learning. We will see what happens in a few weeks, I guess.
If we were having coffee, I would share a link to a post on Orphan & Widow Task I shared earlier this week.
That is my update for this week. Here is the coffee bean grinder. How was your week?

It is indeed hard to believe that we are in the middle of August! We are still enjoying summer temperatures more common in early July. Some of our schools have already started, and some start on Monday, only some of the Universities start in September. I am currently reading the books and research I need for the class I’m taking during this fall semester, it is about different perspectives on special needs education. Thanks for the coffee!

Some schools are already back to class? Wow, that seems early. In Alberta, schools go back on August 28th.
I have a couple of work-related texts I need to start reading in the next little while, but I think I will read them alongside one of my non-work-related novels.
Thanks for stopping in, Maria.

That puzzle is beautiful! I haven’t worked on a puzzle in a long time either. I hope the strike doesn’t come to fruition.

It’s a Ravensburger brand puzzle. I like the colours and quality of this brand.
Happy Saturday, Joanne.

I see that you are still in Onterio. I hope the “Meet the Author” goes well!
The situation with the possible teacher’s strike does not sound fun. I hope they find a way to resolve it!
Enjoy your weekend and have a wonderful week!

Yes, we are still in Ontario for a bit longer. I do enjoy our time here, and I hope to come and go more frequently in 2026. Happy Sunday, Trent.

I love the dragon puzzle! I’ll be praying the school situation goes well. COVID was rough, and yes, the kids don’t need any more complications.. Good to read your blog!

It is the only dragon puzzle in my collection, and I don’t know why. I might need to add a few more.
I hope you are having a lovely weekend, Kathleen.
