Welcome to book review eighteen of fifty-three for this year’s virtual coffee shares. I’ve picked books that are related to the theme here at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils—coffee, books, and puzzles.

The author of Puzzle Box is a Canadian author. Puzzle Box is book one in The Glenmere Box Mysteries. The book is classed as Canadian Detective and Small Town & Rural Fiction. I enjoyed the read, but I would have liked to learn more about why the secret was kept in the puzzle box and never shared with Amy. It felt unclear why it was kept secret, and when the secret is revealed, it is glazed over in the narrative.

If we were having coffee, I would share a picture of the latest puzzle I completed.

If we were having coffee, I would share that my younger son is interested in football. As a result, he and I play catch and run football drills in the backyard. I haven’t held or thrown a football in years, and after the first two days of this activity, my throwing arm is sore.
If we were having coffee, I would share that I’m trying to focus on two goals from my 50-Before-50 bucket list: weight and yoga. So far this year I have participated in twenty-three hours of yoga. According to my tracker app, I have only had three days this year where I haven’t been active: stretching, yoga, mobility exercises, cycling, and weight training.
If we were having coffee, I would share that A-to-Z finished on April 30. It was a successful challenge, but I’m glad the time commitment is done. I need to focus on world-building so I can start writing in a month or two.
Well, that’s my coffee news. Here is the coffee bean grinder. What is your coffee news?

Well done on being so active this year. That puzzle is beautiful. I love it. Also well done on completing the AtoZ Challenge. I caught up with your earlier posts but will be over for your later ones now that the challenge is over, and I have a bit more time up my sleeve.

Well done on being so active this year! That is something I struggle with. Your puzzle is quite pretty.

Joanne, it is a struggle for me as well. This year I have two things that are helping. The first is the app, I’m using. It can be used anywhere and has various options so there’s something to do to match my mood and energy level. The second thing driving me is a friend and I have been doing a daily fitness check-in. Not a competition, just support. There have been a few days where she texts me her fitness stat and it gives me a boost to get moving.

I’m sorry to hear that Puzzle Box left you wanting more. That is one of my least favorite book experiences.
Congratulations on your physical activity! I’m curious about your 50 before 50 Bucket List! Is there a post about it? I’m 48 and don’t have a list like that but am very intrigued!
Hope your weekend is turning out lovely!

Hi, Melissa.
Yes, there are posts about my Bucket List. I originally posted it when I turned 37. I’ve been tracking and updating since then. I reposted it in October when I turned 45. It’s been fun to work at it and I have updated items on the list as my goals have changed. Here is the link to the most recent version of it: Milestones: 50 Before 50 – Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils

I love yoga! I’ve recently gotten into a fitness class that’s based in martial arts, though. It’s only once a week, but I’m really enjoying it (and my husband likes it, too, which is the real shocker!)
I missed it this week, and I’m bummed. I definitely want to make sure I get to it next weekend. 🙂
