What is an author-style bucket list? It’s a list of experiences or achievements an author hopes to accomplish. It can include books you want to write, worlds you want to build, characters you want to create, places you want to visit, and other goals you’d like to achieve.

This is my author’s bucket list:
- Write an epic fantasy novel
- Reread novels by my favourite authors
- Help other writers draft their manuscripts
- Attend a writing conference in person
- Have regular book sales
- Improve my advertising abilities
- Attend an author reading or signing by one of my favourite authors
- Continue learning about the craft of writing
- Visit settings that would inspire me to write
- Attend a writer’s retreat
- Become a hybrid author, meaning I have a traditional publication
What would you put on your author bucket list?

I wrote this post for letter B of the 2025 A-to-Z blog challenge.

Nice post! I hope you accomplish everything on your bucket list!

I struggle with the re-reading of books because I have SO many waiting on my shelf and keep hearing of new ones all the time! But I keep my favorites anyway just in case!

I am familiar with that feeling. An interesting thing I find with re-reading is that it can be like a first read in the sense that I have changed since I read it last, so different things become the focus, or I understand it differently. There are layers added.
Thank you for stopping in, Janet. I am headed your way to see if you have an A-to-Z post.

I just want to come up with an idea for 2026 A to Z!

It is funny you say that, Linda. I have been toying with ideas for next year, but haven’t settled on anything yet.
