Coffee Blog

Coffee and book talk.

Welcome to book review nine of fifty-three for this year’s virtual coffee shares. I’ve picked books that are related to the theme here at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils—coffee, books, and puzzles.

The cliché term, “When one door closes, another door opens” could apply here, just make the door red. This is an easy read with enjoyable characters and themes of friendship and community.

If we were having coffee, I would ask if you have been having trouble leaving comments on other blogs. I have been getting an error message and my message disappears. Not sure what is going on.

If we were having coffee, I would share pictures of the donut puzzle that I just finished. Yes, another donut puzzle. I love the colours in these images.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I have submitted my final assignment for my editing certificate. I will soon be a certified editor from an Editors Canada-recognized program. Later in March, I registered for a course called “Keys to Effective Editing.” This is another Editors Canada-recognized program.

Before I pass you the coffee bean grinder, I want to remind you that my cover reveal is happening on March 6. I hope you have time to check it out and let me know what you think.

  1. That donut puzzle is so cute! I have noticed a slight uptick in having problems with commenting on others’ blogs. I’ve only recently found that even on my own blog many of my comments and those of my most frequent readers/commenters are often flagged as spam but weirdly those aren’t offered to me to approve or disprove as other spam comments– they just disappear! I also get a lot of “nonce verification” errors but often find if I refresh the page I can then comment. Of course by then I’m much to lazy to rewrite the whole comment I was planning on leaving!

    1. Okay, so it isn’t just me getting the “nonce verification” error. I wonder what that is about.

Thanks for stopping in, Joanne. I hope you are having a lovely weekend.

  2. That’s a fun-looking puzzle. Several WordPress bloggers have experienced issues with leaving comments on blogs and they have reported to WordPress. I got “nonce verification” error message on one particular blog and have notified the blogger. I try to make it a habit to copy my comment before submitting it so I can paste it the second time if my first comment doesn’t go through.

    1. I have been trying to remember to copy my comment too, Natalie. It’s not a practice I’m use to though. So, I find I usually forget until I lose that first comment to the error.

      Happy Saturday.

    1. Hello, Jennifer. Donut puzzles are one of my favourites to complete because they are so colourful. I have decided to make my wellness goal for March adding colour to my life.

      Happy Saturday.

  3. Hi Shari,

I went dark for a whole because my retirement meant making a major change in my email and the details of switching from regular work to retirement savings.

Anyway I don’t want to lose touch with you so please note my new email address: gary.a.wilson@outlook.com.

Also – a new cover is coming from you? What did I miss? What new project is going live

    1. Gary! I was thinking about you the other day and contemplated emailing you. It was definitely blog silence from you. Do you have a coffee share this week?

The cover is for the book you helped me with. Since you read it, I have submitted it to my editor and completed a few more rounds of edits. I will email you closer to the release time because I would like to send you a copy of the print book.

      Happy Saturday.

      1. Hi Shari.
I’ve been missing doing my CHs but I still have stuff in the way. I am so much closer though.
I’d love to see how the final manuscript settled.
I’m also so proud of you for your editorial accomplishment and would enjoy any details.
This could be huge for both you and your fans – like me 👍

  4. Congratulations on finishing your last assignment to become a certified editor!

I will be out of town on the 6th so will miss your cover reveal. Hopefully I will be able to make it back to catch it 🙂

There are a handful of blogs that will not let me comment. I can comment through the Reader, but directly. I have also had some issues in the past that seem to be a conflict between Word Press and Firefox – Firefox is super strict and WP often breaks it rules, so things such as “liking” and commenting break. Other browsers work fine. And then, out of nowhere, it comes back again – one or the other does an update to fix it.

I hope you enjoy your weekend and have a wonderful week ahead!

    1. Thank you, Trent. I was surprised by how much I enjoy editing. Often it is a part of the process that people talk about as unpleasant, but I enjoy as a client and as the editor. It is going to be a wonderful career change.

Have fun on your out-of-town trip. I will likely be sharing updates about this new book regularly between now and its release date, so you will get looped in.

      Happy Saturday.
