Let’s talk about Crockpot pizza over coffee.

Welcome to book review four of fifty-two for this year’s virtual coffee shares. I’ve picked books that are related to the theme here at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils—coffee, books, and puzzles.

This is book one in the series, A Coffee Witch Cozy Mystery. I posted about book four in this series on January 10 because I read it out of order. After reading Visions and Vanilla Cappuccino, I wanted to read book one and see if any of my questions were answered. I was still wondering about what a witch’s familiar is—although I now know what it is. Other things that I thought might be detailed in book one:

  • Maddie quitting her job with Claudine
  • Trixie coming into Maddi’s life
  • Suzanne’s brother helping to renovate the coffee truck
  • Maddi’s crush on Suzanne’s brother

These things aren’t what Spells and Spiced Latte are about and they are not afforded any additional details; they’re stated as having happened, but not shown in the narrative description. Seeing these details is a comment on my reading preference and curiosity, but they aren’t fundamental elements of the story. Book one is a cozy murder mystery.

I don’t have any of the other novels from this six-book series on my fifty-three—forty-nine, now—weekend coffee share list.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I’m still contemplating possible A-to-Z themes. Food was recommended and I think it would be a fun option. I could write descriptions of foods. I was also thinking about fairy tale re-writes. Or maybe something else entirely.

If we were having coffee, I would share a writing update. Audiobook production of Vizard is underway. I’m excited to listen to Tracy Parsons narrate. I’m almost finished with my manuscript adjustments from my evaluation. For now, the world-building for my new fantasy series is on pause.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I have started a new Sunday routine. It’s supposed to be as relaxing and chore-free of a day as possible. To help achieve maximum relaxation, I have used the Crockpot. Last week’s dinner was Crockpot Pizza. It was tasty. This dish included ground turkey, onion, green pepper, rigatoni, mushrooms, pepperoni, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese.

Do you use a Crockpot? I think Instant Pots might have taken over the kitchen.

Well, that’s my coffee news. Here is the coffee bean grinder. How was your week?

  1. I think we call a crockpot a slow cooker. I use mine for stews and curries and sometimes rice pudding. I have not thought of pizza.

    1. I think Crockpot is a brand of slower cooker. I haven’t tried cooking rice pudding in the crockpot, but I have a breakfast recipe that is similar to rice pudding but has apples in it and isn’t milky. It is tasty.

Thank you for stopping in, Anne.

  2. I use our crock pot/slow cooker a lot in winter. At least once a week I make a soup in it and we use it often for pot roasts too. Your pizza casserole looks yummy!

  3. I love my crockpot, or slow cooker as we now call them. I use it constantly. It’s great for winter meals and in summer I use it for roasts so the the stove doesn’t heat up. I’m one of the rare people that doesn’t like pizza but my partner loves it when I make it from scratch.

    1. Using the slow cooker in the summer to keep the house from heating up is smart. I have done that to when it’s raining and nobody wants to get soaked cooking on the BBQ.

      Happy Friday, Jennifer.

  4. We use a crock pot all of the time and sometimes have two going at once… We did pick up an insta-pot a few years ago and have never used it.

You don’t have the other books to the series on your list, but will that change after reading the first book? My guess, from what you said, is “No”.

Sounds like the audio-book recording is going well so far. Hope it turns out great!

Enjoy your weekend and have a wonderful week 🙂

    1. Two Crockpots at once, that’s hardcore. Good job!

No, I don’t have the other books from the series on my list. I have a number of other titles to share though. Stay tunes.

      Happy Saturday, Trent.
