The gift of coffee—COFFEE 2024-50

Would you rather give the gift of coffee or receive the gift of coffee? **I’ve experienced that lovely surprise of getting to the drive-through window and having the cashier say, “The car in front of you already paid for your coffee.” It’s a feeling that stays with you the rest of the day. So, I’ve paid for the car behind me a few times and I hope that pleasant feeling stayed with those drivers the rest of the day too. So, I would rather surprise someone with a gifted coffee.
Would you rather whisper secrets to your coffee or have your Java whisper secrets to you? **The idea of my coffee telling me secrets makes me smile. So, that is what I would pick.

If we were having coffee, I would share a couple of pictures from the house build. We have drywall, which is exciting.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I’m making a new dessert in a few weeks for our Christmas dinner. It’s called an eggnog cake. It sounds festive and tasty. I will let you know how it turns out. We aren’t doing the traditional turkey or ham. This year, we will eat smoked apple BBQ ribs and sweet potato and cranberry bake with a fresh-baked bun. Are you having a traditional holiday dinner this year?

If we were having coffee, I would share that I downloaded the Peloton App to try their exercise programs. So far I have been enjoying it. It’s a nice change from my usual routine. There’s lots of variety, music, and different instructors.

Here is the coffee pot virtual coffee friend. How was your week?

  1. I LOVE giving the gift of coffee; we have lots of coffee fanatics in our family and I love gifting them new flavors and varieties to try. Sometimes I make personalized mugs or chocolate covered spoons to go with it or mix up a whole basket with flavored syrups and things. Drywall going up really makes it start to feel like a house! I had such a hard time picturing the rooms until the drywall went up and it was funny how some rooms felt bigger and others a bit smaller that way.

    1. I love the idea of coffee-themed gift baskets; those melting chocolate spoons are fun.

The drywall changes everything. I found that the ceiling more than the walls changed the feel of the space. I can’t wait to see how paint and flooring change the feel.

      Happy Saturday, Joanne.

  2. I love giving the gift of coffee, but I do love to receive it. My partner sometimes buy me a pre paid coffee card for 20 pre-paid coffees from my favourite coffee shop. I absolutely love receiving it. Your Christmas menu looks wonderful.

    1. My husband gifts me a Starbucks coffee card and occasionally a Chapters book card to go with it. What could be a better gift than coffee and a book?

Jennifer, I apologize. I do visit your coffee posts, but it won’t let me leave you a comment.

Happy Saturday. Hope you have a great day.

  3. What, you mean everyone doesn’t whisper secrets to their coffee as they wake up? Sounds like a great idea – the great mage gets their morning coffee and the coffee whispers secrets to them so that they know how to start the day. Perhaps it is the secrets of enemy movements or just the secrets of the Universe in general.

Is that the house in Ontario? If so, were you there recently or did the builders send the photo?

We never do tradition dinners. This year we will go to a friends house and I was told they are having Italian food.

    Have a wonderful week 🙂

  4. I love the idea of giving a stranger a cup of coffee. I give homeless people a cup of coffee every now and then.

When I was married to a Marine it happened relatively often that people would pay for our coffee, or that our meal at a restaurant was already paid for when we wanted to pay.

  5. I really like the idea of coffee whispering secrets to you. Back at uni many moons ago, I used to write about swirling the foam of my cappuccino and searching for meaning in the worn out foam, which never seemed to be coming. I remained lost, although I later found out I’d been born with undiagnosed hydrocephalus or fluid in the brain and things started to make more sense and I had a shunt put in.

These days, I rarely drink coffee due to heartburn issues , but I do love a pot of English Breakfast Tea. I also collect antique and vintage tea cups , and this reminds me, I haven’t used them for a very long time and it’s time to spoil myself again.

Hope you have a lovely week.

    Best wishes,

    Rowena

    1. Looking for messages in the coffee foam makes me think of reading tea leaves. Have you ever had your tea leaves read? I had mine read for the first time about a year ago and it was a neat experience.

Vintage tea cups can be so pretty. I’ve seen a few that I would have liked to bring home, but I need a bigger mug for my coffee so I left them for someone else to love.

      Thanks for stopping in, Rowena.

  6. Giving the gift of coffee is wonderful, and tea too. I can easily imagine the feeling you experienced and I am sure the next person felt it too. My husband always brings me a coffee drink when he goes out to the store. Your dinner menu sounds delicious. Happy Holidays to you and your family.
