Taste versus smell & grounds versus powder—COFFEE 2024-15

Would you rather the coffee had no taste or no smell?
Would you rather eat coffee grounds or cocoa powder?

No taste or no smell? That’s a hard one. I love the smell of coffee; the smell alone makes me crave a sip. But drinking a cup of coffee that looks and smells like java, but has no taste, doesn’t sound good to me. So, I pick coffee with no scent. I would rather not eat coffee grounds or cocoa powder. The thought of either turning to a dry paste that lumps on my tongue and is hard to swallow is unappealing. But, to play fair, I must pick. So, I’d eat . . . um . . . co . . . Heavy sigh. I guess I’d eat coffee grounds.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I need material to cut ten more patches for my quilt. That is the last craft project that I have to wrap up before I make a mini dollhouse library. My original goal is to have the quilt completed before the end of the year, but I might move that deadline up to the fall.

If we were having coffee, I would share that I have collected forty-four of the fifty-three titles for next year’s coffee and book review posts. It’s a pretty fun-looking group of novels.

If we were having coffee, I would share that A-to-Z is going well. I’m glad I’m participating.

  1. Fun Fact: When I was living in the former Yugoslavia several decades ago, the ice cream I enjoyed in Sarajevo, Bosnia, was simply a very gooey, sweet, vanilla, frozen treat with coffee grounds mixed in. The flavor was intense! On a similar note, when my son was a toddler and saw me grinding my coffee beans, he would love to munch on a whole bean. And let’s not forget dark-chocolate covered coffee beans. … 🤔 … By the way this comment is rambling down memory lane it’s obviously time for another four shots of espresso over here 😉 … Have a great weekend!

    1. Ian, thank you for sharing. If it wasn’t so early in the morning I would be scooping French vanilla ice cream into a bowl and sprinkling coffee grinds over it. I have a supply of chocolate-covered coffee beans in my cupboard. I love them, but my kids do not. Haha.

      Happy Saturday.

  2. Your projects seem to be going very well, how exciting, I can’t wait to see!
As for the questions: I’d rather coffee with no smell… I lost my sense of smell entirely for over a year, so I think I could do it again if need be. And, I think I’d rather eat cocoa powder 😂 now if you asked me to eat a coffee bean, I think I could handle that!

    1. It’s funny because I would rather eat a coffee bean than coffee grinds, but the bean tastes the same as the grinds and crunches up to grinds. So, I wonder why our brains see it as different? Maybe our subconscious is adding in the chocolate. Haha.

      Thanks for visiting, Alexandra.

  3. Well done with your quilt progress and your collection of titles for next year’s posts! I started a rough draft for next Friday’s post 🙂 Thank you for your weekend coffee share.

  4. A year’s worth of titles? My coffee post titles are boring, but a title is always the last thing I do (my WIP, 2 years old, 3 major drafts and many sub-drafts in, is named “No Working Title”). Cocoa powder actually doesn’t taste too bad. Raw coffee grounds? I have had it in candy, but plain? No thank you. Have a great weekend!

    1. They are titles—books—to read that are related to my blog themes. I would like to open next year’s coffee posts with a review of them. As for titles for my own work, it’s usually a struggle. I do use working titles for my books but not my blog posts because I don’t typically work on them long enough for title evolution. Thanks for visiting, Trent. Happy Saturday.

    1. Putting the house together after a move is a craft in itself. I love getting the furniture into place, filling kitchen cabinets with dishes, and setting up all the things that make it feel like home. Happy house set-up, Jayden.

  5. Hi Shari!
I can’t say I’d like to taste either one dry but love both cooked in some way! We are spending my hubby’s birthday the 13th with my daughter as it’s her birthday Sunday, 14th. I won’t have a post to share on my blog, but it’s fun to stop by and say Hi! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and week ahead! 💖

  6. I love my coffee but I’m very boring with it. I don’t like any flavours added at all. Just an ordinary latte for me, but in a mug thankyou, not a glass. We are at the halfway mark of the AtoZ Challenge. I’m way behind on visiting the blogs that I’d like to so will catch up with you this week.

    1. Hi Jennifer. A-to-Z is a hard one to keep up with, especially when the blog traffic is high. That’s part of the fun though and the great thing is we can catch up whenever we get a chance. Please leave a link to your A-to-Z if you visit this week, I will do the same. It just makes it a bit fast. Happy Sunday Jennifer.

  7. I would have to go with no smell over no taste. I like to sip for a long while & the smell last just moments. I would have to go with eating coffee grounds over coco powder. I’ve had coco powder & it is soooo bitter. I’ve had a few coffee grounds in my coffee & it goes right down.
