Would you rather call coffee Java or Joe?
Would you rather have salted caramel cappuccinocheese cake or coffee flavoured ice cream?
If we were having coffee, I would share that a coffee place called Java Joe’s exists. I haven’t been there, but I like the name. It rolls off the tongue. Anyway, I would rather call my coffee Java because it’s fun to say. And I am all about salted caramel, so you know what my answers is to the second “would you rather” question.

If we were having coffee, I would share that the A-to-Z theme reveal went live last weekend. If you didn’t have time to pop into my post, you can have a peek here: Divulging Subject Matter. Are you taking part in April’s challenge?

If we were having coffee, I would share the link to my post on X about finishing my one quilting project: the quilt. Of my To-Be-Finished in 2024 crafts, I have one project left, and that is the second quilt. After finishing the last quilt, I’m not in a hurry to dive back in. So, a brief break before I cut the patches. Confession time—I have started shopping for that mini library craft. I have made no purchases, but I have found so fun stuff. Once I get started on it, I will share some pictures.
If we were having coffee, I would stretch and pass you the coffee pot. Tell me virtual coffee friend, how was your week?

Cover reveal for the last book in The Ember Files is happening in April. Stay tuned.

Hi Shari,
I’m torn about both names for coffee. In my world, Java, is a programming language so that’s the first thing that comes to mind if I hear the word and am saved only by the context in which is was used. And Joe? How did that name ever get connected to coffee? My best friend in college was named Joseph, but he also went by Joe and Sancho (from Don Quixote – long story and not helpful here other than Joe is my friend in college and on hearing that word, I’m tempted to correct the speaker to tell that that he prefers Joseph…
My week has been kinda wild. You may have read how our oldest boy and his wife just made us grandparents – so that was huge. In a week from today, we’ll be in Missoula Montana, not far from your southern border with us to meet the little guy.
If you like baby photos, don’t miss my coffee share this week. You’ll love the guitar shots. My son is the guitar geek who came up with this bright idea.
Then just today, we got the final date for our youngest child, also male, his marriage now has a date much earlier that we expected. He found such a great gal that except we need to travel to southern Calif, their marriage can’t be soon enough. We love the gal he found.
So far, 2024 is leaving me exhausted – but so very proud of our growing gang.

Gary, my friend, I have been wondering where you are. If I haven’t said so previously, congrats on the grandbaby. That is so wonderful. I am heading to your coffee share right away. And congrats on the upcoming addition of a new daughter-in-law. 2024 is a great year.
As for Joe, I thought it was a fairly common term for coffee. I find it a bit strange as well because my father’s name was Joseph and he went by Joe. Anyway, great question because I didn’t know the answer. The originals calling coffee Joe are varied. Google connects it to 1898 and a New York Coffee company, founded by a man named Joe, where you could get a “a cup of Joe.” There is a reference to a 1914 military connection that also used the term “cup of Joe.” Can you guess what his name was? Haha.

In the town I grew up, there was a coffee place called Java ‘N Jazz. It was a catchy name and they served really good coffee…and of course had the weekly live music. It was the few places in town I enjoyed. I was so sad they went away.
