How many virtual coffee dates have we had this year?

Today I’m sipping Bean Around the World Stroop Waffle coffee. It has a pleasant sugary scent. It tastes smooth with a bitter aftertaste. There’s not much more to say than that. It’s hot, but I’m going to drink it fast. Can I offer you a virtual mug?

If we were having coffee, I would share that I lost count of our coffee dates. I believe we are on Java number forty seven?

If we were having coffee, I would share that Maddi is doing well. Thank you for all the kind words during last week’s virtual coffee.

If we were having coffee, I would share that this week was a week of appointments. If I wasn’t out of the house for my appointment, then it was for one of the other members of the family—every day. The upcoming week is similar. I’m going to have to schedule a pyjama day that involves my sofa, a comfy blanket, and a book. I think it sounds like a December plan.

December, can you believe that it’s just around the corner?

If we were having coffee, I would share that I’m still going strong with my NaNoWriMo participation. I’ve written just over forty thousand words, but my story is wrapping up. I don’t know if there are another ten thousand words left to write. Finishing the manuscript was my goal and NaNo has been the force driving that. So, I suppose even if I don’t reach fifty-thousand words, I’ve been successful.

So, virtual coffee friend, what is new with you?

  1. In my mind your month of NaNoWriMo has been hugely successful. I’m thinking without the motivation of the month you many not have produced over 40,000 words. Every year, I think about participating, but as yet haven’t dived in. Perhaps next year. Well done!

    1. You’re correct, Jennifer. Without NaNo I wouldn’t have gotten so many words written. I decided to join this year because I needed the accountability to get this story onto the page. If you decide to participate next year, I recommend having your prep done ahead of time so you can focus on the writing and just have fun with it.

Thanks for stopping in. Happy Saturday.

  2. I’m happy to hear about Maddi.
It is crazy that December is almost upon us. I like December, all the hot beverages and the cozy lights, getting ready for Christmas…and New Year, seeing all the children’s smile 🙂 Thank you for your coffee today!

  3. Glad to hear Maddi is doing better and congratulations on your NaNoWriMo. I have been a little tempted to have a go but I tend to write shorter pieces and like writing flash fiction around the 100 word mark.
I went to a book launch last Friday night which was enjoyable, but I’ve also been attending appointments and have spent the past few months sorting out our house and yesterday I cleared out a carload of clothes of my mother’s and sorted them out and we’re having a clothing pick up and five bags are going out the front. Mum was diagnosed with dementia a year ago and has been hoarding clothes for years and they’d really gone out of control and had taken over the house. So it feels good to be able to make some progress and we had a lovely day together along with my Dad and brother.
    Best wishes,

    1. Rowena, have you considered writing a collection of short stories? Could be an interesting NaNo project.

I did some downsizing the last couple of weekends as well. My boys had a bit of a disaster happening in their bedrooms. So, I gave them a hand and we have some clothes and toys to donate. It’s a nice feeling to get things tidied up and it was a nice way to spend time together too.

      Thanks for stopping in.

      1. I know disaster in kids’ bedrooms only too well. We managed to get one room sorted, but still have one to go and am concerned the clean room will revert back to wilderness. Maintaining the house seems to be a never-ending thankless battle. Here in Sydney we have the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the saying is with painting that is that they get to one end only to be starting at the beginning again. That’s what this place is like except we’re never made it to the end yet.
