My morning coffee earlier this week made me question coffee and mindfulness and here is why. I strolled into the kitchen to make my first cup of coffee for the day. I stood with my left hand on the top of the metal Keurig spinner slowly rotating it while I scanned the coffee flavours. I selected a Jamaican rum-flavoured coffee. I lifted the top of the Keurig, dropped my coffee pod in, and pushed the lid down enjoying the feel of resistance and the pop when of the pod. I selected the 10oz cup and pressed go. I stood there for a second listening to the start-up sounds of the Keurig before turning to walk away. Something didn’t feel right though, so I paused with my back to the coffeemaker thinking about it. Mindful or not mindful, I’m not sure but I forgot to put a coffee cup on the Keurig to catch my Jamaican rum-flavoured coffee! After a frantic scramble, I was able to get a mug in place in time.
If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I got my blog updates completed. The About Shari page was modified slightly and Home Page was updated completely to reflect the business starting in the fall. There was a tab marked as Under Revision, you will see that it now is labelled Book News. The Book News tab will be updated to reflect upcoming books, services, or free items.
If we were having coffee, I would share that the Book Tab currently has a free short story available for download. It’s part of The Ember Files. For any of you who have read The Ember Stone, the free short story proceeds it and it is about Carter and how he got into the subplot predicament in The Ember Stone. If you are interested you can pop over the Bew News tab for a description of the story.
If we were having coffee, I would share that the weather has been wild this week: thunderstorms, heat, and smoke. It’s been a mixed bag of weather. I’m one of those people who love thunder and lightning storms so I enjoyed it. My boxer, Maddi, however, does not like them and she woke me up a few times this week because she wasn’t happy with the noise.
Anyway, enough about me. How are you? How was your week?

I also love thunderstorms, and heavy rain (when I’m indoors!) Your coffee scene made me smile – I have moments similar , mostly involving forgetting that we are out of milk or beans. Jamaican Rum Flavour is one I will have to look out for …

Thanks for stopping in, Ruthie. If you look for the Jamaica Rum Flavoured coffee the brand I have been drinking is called “Bean Around the World.”

Glad you were able to save your coffee! I thought this week would be less busy than the last one, but of course, I would be wrong. Ha! There’s always something. But I am hoping to be able to cross a bunch of things off my to-do list this week! Writing being a huge priority right now!

It does always seem like there is something and then something else after the something. Eventually one of the somethings becomes our writing. I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
