I read letter X in eBook format and it is the second book in The Alphabet Series that I have read. A for Alibi was first published in 1982 and the series grew from there.
The following review was originally posted on Goodreads: January 2023.
I confess that I am not reading the books in The Alphabet Series in alphabetical order. I enjoy Kinsey Millhone’s character. One of my draws in picking up book 24 in the series was a curiosity about “X”. Is it X marks the spot or x-ray? What is X? The books in the series all say this letter is for . . . “A is for Alibi” for example, but not this book. This book is just “X”. So, as I read, I kept waiting for something to suggest what X is for. At first, I thought it might have something to do with Father Xavier and then I thought there would be something earth-shattering with Teddy and Ari Xanakis. However, book 24 is just “X” with a few characters whose names have an X in them. Regardless, I enjoyed the read. The pace speeds up nicely toward the end. “X” reads like a spiderweb of clues that eventually leads to a mostly satisfying conclusion; I say “mostly” only because of the potential to see one of the bad guys again.

If you’re visiting from A-to-Z please leave a link to your post in the comments section and I’ll try to visit.

X is such a difficult letter to use, but there are words out there. I’m kinda disappointed in that X was just that, to fit the alphabet for her. Or her publisher.

X is a hard one for sure and Z. And yes, I was hoping that the title X had some exciting meaning. Regardless, I enjoyed the read.

To think you read a whole book searching for the significance of X and it is disappointingly a couple of names. Tragic!

Well, I’m not sure I would have been as focused on it as I was if I wasn’t reading it for my A-to-Z letter X. Haha. Still a good read though. Have you read it Linda?
