The rich brown coating is glossy and smooth. The faint bitter notes of dark chocolate with hints of coffee surround each fat oval shaped bean. The chocolate coating is soft, and the taste mirrors the bittersweet smell. But as I bite down the crunch in the center is a nice surprise. As the crunch grinds between my teeth the sharp taste of coffee floods my taste buds. My weekend coffee share message today is, if you can’t drink it, eat it! Chocolate-covered coffee beans offer a mouthful of joy.
If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I completed my new writing table and put it into the space. I’m going to wait to share any pictures though because I want to add some splashes of inspiration to the space before I start writing in it. Hopefully, by the end of October.
If we were having coffee, I would share the link to my response to this week’s 99-word prompt: Ritual Involved Tea. Thanks to the Carrot Ranch Literary Community for another fun prompt.
If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I decided to participate in NaNoWriMo this November. I participated in 2016 to get a taste of the challenge and for writing a lengthy piece of manuscript. So, I have committed to this November. My plan is to start an outline for what will be book four in The Ember Files I can hear some of you questioning the number four. Let me explain. The Ember Stone was published in June (book 1). Chimera and Curses is due for publication in the spring of 2023. I am currently writing a side story to The Ember Files which is book number three written but can be read in any order, it isn’t technically book number three in the series. The fourth book that I plan to start for NaNoWriMo is book three. Does that make any sense? Either way, I have thrown my hat in for NaNoWriMo 2022. Is anybody else participating this year?

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian readers. Happy October to everyone else. Wishing you all a great weekend.

Weekend Coffee Share is hosted by Natalie the Explorer. I hope you have a chance to join us for a virtual cup. Coffee share #90 or week 40 of 54.

I think I’ve had coffee beans covered with chocolate at some point, long ago now… quite nice as I remember it. Enjoy the start of your new book!

Can’t wrap my mind around chocolate covered coffee beans. But I did add about a third of a pouch of hot chocolate mix to my coffee today. That has to be a step into same zip code.

Hot chocolate and coffee? I believe that is a mocha and it can be a very tasty treat. Hope your weekend was nice.

Good luck for NaNoWriMo. I would love to participate and think about it each year, but at the moment November is a difficult time. Hopefully one day, in the future. ….

Thanks, Jennifer, I will share progress during virtual coffees. I am sorry to hear that November is a difficult time. As for NaNoWriMo participating, I say everything in its own time. My first round was in 2016 but I haven’t been in a place to participate since . . .

I have eaten chocolate covered coffee beans and like them, but not something I would want all of the time. I have coffee every day (if possible) and dark chocolate (77% and 85%) most days, bu the two usually don’t combine.
It is funny, but I have never had a desire to try the NaNoWriMo. I have written a book in a month, but I did it because I was inspired (The Halley Branch was written and posted, one chapter a day, over a month – 30 chapters). Good luck with your third/Fourth/pick your number system book during November! lol, I get what you are saying, but it is funny.
Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your weekend and have a wonderful week ahead!

Well, I would say writing a book in a month is NaNoWriMo-ish regardless of the month. I think part of doing it in November is for inspiration and support. That said, we have a great group right here in our WordPress world. Thanks for stopping in, Trent. Have a great week.

Good luck for NaNoWriMo. I’d greatly appreciate if you could update your link to ‘Natalie the Explorer’ to my weekend coffee share post, instead of my Blog Links page. Thank you.

I have tried choc coated coffee beans before. Yum. These days, with a reconstructed upper mouth I need to be very wary of what I crunch down on. I adore coffee as a flavour and in a cake too. Denyse #wcs

Oh my goodness, coffee cake is one of my favourites. I have a gluten-free coffee cake recipe that is my absolute favourite. Thanks for stopping in Denyse.

Some cafes in Australia serve a couple of chocolate covered coffee beans on the teaspoon that comes with a coffee. They’re nice in small quantities – but a bit overpowering after the first couple. Looking forward to seeing your new writing space.

Yes, I agree about limiting the number of chocolate cover coffee beans consumed. I usually only have a few; five or less. Thanks for stopping in. Hope you have a great week.

It was a very long time ago since I had chocolate covered coffee beans, but I remember the experience vividly. How exciting that your new writing corner is getting ready. I can’t wait to see the photos.

I hung a couple of picture frames today and set my printer up in the space. It’s getting closer. Wishing you a great week, Maria.

Personally, I like strong brewed, a bit chewy. If a spoon can stand up in it, I’ll drink it. (And not ha e to sleep for a few days)

Sounds like cowboy coffee, Antoinette. A few years back, I worked in a different building and on coffee breaks there was a lady who always got the coffee pot brewing, and she would joke that she liked her coffee so strong the spoon stood up in it by itself. She called it cowboy coffee. Thanks for stopping in.

I’m doing NaNo! 🙂 I’m excited to get started, even though I have absolutely NO idea what I’m going to write.

That’s exciting. There’s still time to figure out what to write. I enjoy following you through April’s A to Z and I look forward to hearing how your NaNoWriMo progresses.

Thanks! I really would like to start doing more writing again, I just haven’t been able to get to it lately.

I’ve never done a NaNoWriMo but I’ve had a few friends who’ve attempted and one has completed hers successfully. I’ve entertained the idea but where would I find the time to write 1,600+ words per day? How many hours do you set aside for NaNoWriMo?

It is definitely a challenge that pushes against time constraints. I can’t remember how I managed the 2016 challenge. This year though I have started to outline my chapters, just a loose outline so that when I sit down to write I won’t waste time trying to figure out where to start. I know from there I can get through the word quote in a couple of hours. Finding those couple hours is challenging. I plan to write in spells if I need to (breaks and lunch . . .), but if I need to sacrifice my relaxation time after my kids go to bed to meet my word quote then I am prepared to do that for the month of November. We will see how it goes. I would love to meet the 50,000 words at the end of the month, but I am happy to just give it my best and see what happens.
Thanks for stopping in, Julie. Have a great week.

I like coffee, although not always adventurous. I could be persuaded to bite down on a chocolate covered coffee bean. Retirement, and the early days of retirement have given me an opportunity to write with abandon as though I had no other priorities. I wasn’t happy about all that free time but the celebration, and it is really just a turning point is that my friend and I completed, finally completed the first full draft of our book. Spending the next week combing through it with a fine tooth comb before sharing it with Beta readers. we have never done this before. I admire prolific writers (do they have lives away from their keyboard?) But to actually have a first full draft, three years in the making is exciting. So maybe, the writing challenge you speak of might be interesting to me, if not now, maybe 2023. I realize just getting to this point in our adventure, there is much work to do. Thank you for your post and for letting me share with you about our experience.

Congrats to you and your friend on completing your manuscript! That is so exciting. Each step afterwards is exciting too. Can I ask about the genre?
Thanks for stopping in and sharing a virtual coffee.
