Mug: Especially Popular

Do you have a favourite coffee mug that you drink your coffee in? I can’t say that I have just one favourite, but I can say that I have a coffee cup pattern. On Monday mornings I use a large white mug that has a red interior. I would describe the mug as heavy and clunky. It’s my designated Monday mug because Grumpy Smurf scowls on the front. The colourful image of the Smurf is raised off the mug a bit and he has a number of black and white shadows of himself in the background in different Grumpy postures. My Tuesday through Friday mugs are chosen sometimes based on my mood and sometimes by a random grab from the cupboard. For the weekend, I typically use my two writing-themed mugs.

If we were having coffee, I would share the link to LitNuts with you. I’m immersed in the never-ending battle to market my novel as an Indie Author. Last week The Ember Stone was included on a list of feature books. If you would like to check out the full list, you can find it here at LitNuts Crazy About Books. If you are curious about The Ember Stone, its promo page can be found here at Book 1 of The Ember Files. On side note, I’m doing a cover reveal next Tuesday for Chimera and Curses.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I bought a hanging light for my writing space this week. I’m still working to set the tone in the space. My husband and I order a gas stove for the basement as well, so that will also add to the space. So, I need to finish my Hobbit map puzzle for my desktop and decide what picture/puzzle I would like to hang directly in front of my table.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I was scheduled to appear on a Podcast this week. Unfortunately, the morning of the host woke up sick, so we had to reschedule. We haven’t narrowed it down yet, but are aiming for the beginning of November.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that the weather is still holding at unseasonably warm. However, the forecast is calling for snow next week. We were supposed to get rain, but it didn’t happen so we shall wait and see about the snow.

Here is the coffee pot, friend. How was your week?

  1. Hi, I joined the CoffeeShare this week for the first time and just popped in to say “Hi”

I tried to look at the links you shared but unfortunately they were blocked by my NortonAntivirus 😦 I have just started my journey as an Indie Author. I have a collab partner and we’ve now completed 3 books in a series, due to be published next year. What genre are your books?

    1. Welcome to the coffee share. It’s a great group. Sorry, those links were blocked. I’ve also been having trouble with some links lately for no reason. If you are interested (its a great Indie tool) maybe try googling LitNuts.

I’m writing urban fantasy. How about yourself?

        1. No, it’s safe. I was getting the same warning with MailerLite, but it’s safe too. It was explained to me, but I can’t recall how to explain it. Either way, thanks for trying.

          Romance and RomCom, nice.

    2. Hi Pip,
I too often have problems with Shari’s links, but the problem seems too random to be something she’s done or is not doing.
One think to try, if you use a VPN (and I’m pretty sure that Norton does) turn it off before going to her site and things normally work find then.

      1. Sorry guys, technology really isn’t a strong point for me. At a previous place of employment, we use to make jokes about keeping away from certain electronic items because they would act up if I just walked by them. The photocopier was one of the prime pieces of equipment that would carry on for whoever was using it if I stopped to talk to them. What is that about?

  2. Hi there, busy week here but I’ll take the weekend off and relax. I really like your writing themed cups, especially the first one! My favourite cup is a green small cup that is perfect for a good cappuccino. A friend, who is a potter, made them for me.

  3. Hi – I love that you’re putting so much thought into your writing space and that your novel is going ahead and so is your marketing strategy. Good luck with the podcast – I’ve been interviewed for a couple of podcasts and they’re a lot of fun. My favourite coffee cup reads “Sixty, sassy, and a bit smart assy” and it always gives me a smile when I use it.

    1. Thank you, Leanne. I’m nervous about the podcast because it’s outside my comfort zone. I have been pushing it lately by participating on camera when I attend online webinars and stuff, but I’m not sure I will ever get used to it. That said, I do think it will be fun. The host said, to think of it as two ladies having a chat over coffee.

Love the mug quote. Have you seen the mugs that say Vintage and then they have the year? I would like to add one of those to my collection, but they seem to just over my birth year.

      Have a great week.

  4. A great cup is special. I actually think that buying someone a cup or mug as a gift is one of the greatest gifts you can give someone. Imagine all the cozy, special moments a brew is enjoyed in that mug and you feel close (in a way) to the person who gave it to you. I need to go and get some unique cups…Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  5. I have a ton of mugs, but I do have weird patterns. On Cape Cod I use a different Beatles mug each day when I work and one of the others on days I don’t work, depending on mood. In NH, I use a Pink Floyd mug (long story) on work days, and one of two others (ones used in the coffee share titles) on non-work days.
I’m glad you are out there pushing your book. I am awful, awful about things like that. I didn’t get an “F” in self-marketing, I was too timid to sign up for it 😉 lol. Cool that you are finding ways to do it. Also good that you are getting your writing space together, though bummer you couldn’t do the podcast.
Hope your weekend is going well and that you have a great week!

    1. Nice to hear that I’m not alone with my coffee mug assigning.

Marketing is hard and I am way outside my comfort zone, but I’m told my comfort zone will adjust. We shall see. The podcast is tentatively set for the beginning of November now, so I have time to get myself all nervous about it. Haha.

Thanks for stopping in Trent. Have a great rest of your week.

  6. Hi Shari,
Publishing really does sound like a lot of work, but in your case, I’d bet, it’s succeeding even if it’s pushing you into areas you’d normally avoid.
I used to be petrified by any form of public speaking, but then I landed a great job as an instructor and was constantly put in front of large audiences where I just had to get over it, learn how to prepare my comments and do a good job.
In my case, it helped tremendously.
I’m in your corner and think you’ll do a great job with the podcast.

    1. Public speaking hasn’t been my strong suit. It’s funny too because I loved drama in high school and doing street performances were my favourite but speaking, no way. The new Podcast date is tentatively scheduled for the beginning of November.

Hope your week is going well Gary. See you for a virtual coffee in a few days.

  7. I signed up for my books The Heart of Bakers and Artists and The Dreams of Singers and Sluggers, to be featured in LitNuts newsletters this week. I got a good deal from a friend’s recommendation. Well see how it works out.

    1. Nice, I think LitNuts is a great thing. I think I might run again in December, but I will have to see where I am with the budget . . . Thanks for stopping in Antoinette.

    1. Thanks, Kirstin. What’s a great coffee without a fun coffee mug, right? We got our first round of snow on Tuesday. It wasn’t a lot, and it didn’t stay, but the seasons are shifting.
