An ornamental chain worn around the neck made from materials in varying sizes. As a teen, I had a favourite necklace. It was a simple black cord with a spring ring. The ornament that hung from it was a small clay mushroom, stem and head. Maybe an inch long, it was smooth with curved edges. They painted the mushroom with numerous tiny images and shapes. It was brightly coloured. It wasn’t fancy. But it was fun, and it felt magical. By contrast, I had a gold link lock chain with a glass slipper that felt magical in a different way.

Your necklace sounds unusual. I wonder do you still have it? I lost a necklace from my grandmother. It was a gold chain and two cameos, one below the other, separated by a bar. It was when my children were small and I wonder if one accidentally put it in the toilet or the bin because I used to carelessly leave it lying around.

I have different favourite necklaces from different times in my life. Did you ever have a photo of your mushroom necklace? It would have been interesting to see the glass slipper too.
