Pie Flavoured Coffee Series: Coffee 5

The dominant smell is apple. It is almost a green apple smell with a sugary overlay. The taste is reminiscent of caramel and it leaves a lingering candied aftertaste. The temperature is just right and each sip of my apple crisp macchiato slides down smooth.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I participated in Inkers Mini Con last weekend. It was a digital conference with presentations from industry experts and authors. I really enjoyed it and found that offered a lot of great information. The main Inkers Con runs in July this year. I haven’t signed up yet because I am waiting for my July schedule to firm up first, but I hope to be able to attend. If you are curious to know more you can find the website, here.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that while I take a short break from editing Book One I have been working one book Two. I have written 3 chapters of this new manuscript and I am starting the fourth. This first couple of chapters have taken a bit longer to commit to paper than I expected because of the introduction of a new character that I can only descript right now as beyond average. I also had to develop a new item that is essential to driving the plot of this new novel.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that it was literacy week at school this week for my boys. One of the activities was wacky hair day. It just so happened that the boys both got temporary hair dye for Christmas this year so we used it for wacky hair day. I haven’t dyed hair in years and the three of us really enjoyed this experience. I think the part that was the most fun for them was the end result of blue hair (and yes blue was the goal).

If we were having coffee, I would smile and slide the coffee pot to you so that you can take a turn sharing the events of your week.

  1. That coffee sonds delicious! I’d love to have a cup, please 🙂 How fun for the boys to have a wacky hair day! I’m all in for making things fun. I think there is a great need for that, especially nowadays. Thanks for that marvellous coffee! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  2. Okay Shari – what gives?
    I know you took photos of wacky hair day. So where are they?
    Such shots are always fun.
    You could likely use one as a temporary stand for that great shot of you and the boys sitting on that bench above.
    Today, I hope to tackle another couple of chapters of Ember.
    I got my covid booster yesterday and I’m caught up with other writing things, but the sun is out here and is calling me to come out and walk – a lot in it.

    1. My oldest son is going through a no picture stage and it is making me crazy. When it comes to my other son it is monkey see and monkey do. It was still fun though.

  3. If we were having coffee, I would share that I taught the second week of the semester last week. We talked about writing as a process of multiple drafts and the idea of getting feedback. Very appropriate given where you are at in your own process. I would share that I was feeling pretty burned out this weekend, so I took a break even though I had lots I should have been doing (like reading your book!). I would share that I’m getting the itch to “spring clean” already, by which I mean purging and organizing. This will probably involve several trips to either the donation centre or the dump, or both!

    1. Congrats on the teaching. The multiple draft/feedback stage is definitely where I am at and it is a learning curve, but an enjoyable one. Good call on the break, we need to take them when we need them. Good luck with the spring cleaning.
