Pie Flavoured Coffee Series: Coffee 3

The powerful smell of nutmeg is the star scent in my mug this morning. It is sweet and earthy smelling. There is no hint of sweetness in the sip instead it is both warm and earthy in flavour. Yet it is a spicy sip that if savoured can be described as a wash of fall spices that play over the taste buds. The smell and taste are reminiscent of cloves. This is my kind of coffee and it is going to go down quickly this morning.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that week went quickly but felt uneventful. Strangely we had 2 mornings this week where we all slept in and were almost late for school. In addition, it was one of those weeks where I thought Wednesday was Tuesday and it wasn’t until my boys got home from school and corrected my days of the week that I figured it out. Not sure what that is about.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I started doing the P90X3 videos again. I haven’t done them in a good long while. To be honest, I have exercised much since the summer. I was originally told by my physiotherapist to stop exercising while I worked through the GLAD program for my hip. Once I got the go ahead to start again, I was just too unmotivated to do it. That said, I am back at it now and so far so good with my hip.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I am currently reading “The Mortal Blade: An Epic Fantasy” by Christopher Mitchell. It was a Goodreads recommendation. So, far I am enjoying it. I plan to do a review of it once I am all the way through. Have I mentioned that I recently discovered that I really enjoy doing reviews?

If we were having coffee, I would slide the coffee pot towards you before I lean back in my chair, put my feet up and smile at you encouragingly. How was your week?

  1. Nutmeg and clove with earth fall spices.. is it pumpkin pie coffee? If you said, I missed it. Not sure what “P90X3” is. With me, it is hard to get back into an exercise routine after taking time off, but once I get into it, each session is that much easier until I look forward to them. Hope your reading and writing (editing now?) goes well this week.

    1. Yes, getting back into the exercise routine is challenging but I agree once back in to it the sessions get easier and it becomes something to look forward to. As for the novel, I currently have a few people giving it a read through and I started writing a sequel because I couldn’t have no writing project. Haha.

Thanks for stopping in Trent. Have a great weekend.

  2. I so need to get back into an exercise routine. My apartment complex even has a gym! On the plus side, I did schedule a hike with a longtime friend today. I’m looking forward to it, even if it is cold. Hopefully it will help jumpstart my activity. I just feel… sluggish, you know? Hope you enjoy getting back into your routines!

  3. Hi Shari,
Spending last Sept. in bed with covid really creamed my ability to exercise and wiped out my stamina for even walking much.
But I’ve been adding more time and longer walks most days and feel almost back to normal – well except for the 10 pounds that I lost to that nasty virus. I’m happy to have lost it and now work at eating healthier but keeping it off.
For Christmas, my wife bought me two pairs of pants 2 sizes smaller than I was wearing last year. It seems she got tired of my belts being too long and my pants being way too big. I thought she’d gone too far and we’d have to take them back, but darn if they didn’t fit just right.
Less weight does help one walk longer – so I’m writing this up as a win.
    Thanks for the coffee visit.
I don’t recall you mentioning your hip before.
That could be a rough ride so I hope all is well again.
    Blessings.

    1. I recall you mentioning being down and out with COVID. It really does linger. Slow and steady to get back into any routine, is best I think. I would writing it up as a win as well. Thanks for stopping in Gary. Have a great week.

  4. Nutmeg in coffee sounds delicious. I like to add cinnamon in mine. Recently I had an orange truffle latte. I usually don’t like citrus flavors in my coffee, but it was really good. The cardamom was the star in the drink!

    1. GLAD is a program designed to strengthen certain areas like hip and knees and to help with pain. It is typically used for patients with osteoarthritis but isn’t limited to those patients. It is a certified program. The focus is Leg strength, Core strength, Functional and Positional. I have found it helpful. I was surprised to learn how weak my one side was after spending a lengthy period of time compensating on the other side. If you google GLAD program it will come up.

Thanks for stopping in. Have a great week.

    1. It is a bit of a tough one but I really like the yoga and isometric videos. To be honest, I just want the consistency of an exercise routine again too. Thanks for stopping in Kirstin.
