Pie Flavoured Coffee Series: Coffee 2

My coffee flavour is Grasshopper Pie. I have no idea what Grasshopper pies is. So, as I listen to the soft gurgle and trickle of my coffee brewing I do a fast Google search. Google shows a pastel coloured no-bake mousse pie with a chocolate crumb crust.

That first sip reveals none of the flavour that I was expecting. There are no notes of chocolate, no nutty tones and it isn’t creamy. It is a smooth sip but I taste a light minty flavour that confuses me. It isn’t an overly bitter coffee and there is no lingering after taste. Sadly, it is a dull cup of coffee today.

If we were having coffee, I would share the link to my coffee post last weekend in case you want to check it out… Pie Flavoured Coffee Series: Coffee 1. I would also explain that this year at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils it a year of coffees.

If we were having coffee, I would ask how 2022 is going for you so far? The beginning of my year has been restful which is a great start in my opinion. I took the first week off work but I am back at it in a couple of days.

If we were having coffee, I would ask if you are a new year’s resolution person? I am not, at least not in the typical fashion. For me, I don’t make a resolution but I do assign the year a word. I started this in 2018 and it is an activity that stuck for me. Previous years have been assigned words like transformation, hope, goals and health & happiness. This year’s word is success for successes however big or small. So, I wish you a successful 2022.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that I have let my novel sit for the month of December so I can look at it with fresh eyes sometime in the near future. I am waiting for my last round of edit reads to finish up and get back to me. Once that I happens I will go through it and then it is off to Beta readers for advanced reviews. So, exciting. In addition, I have made a start at a sequel. Just going slow with it for now but I have set a writing plan up for the year so I need to kick my writing into gear. Hmm, what else about writing can I share? I submitted my master’s application and will hear back on that in March. In the meantime, I am taking some webinars and joined an online writing conference for later in the year.

If we were having coffee, I would share with you that since joining Goodreads I have really been enjoying being an active part of that community. I have been completing reviews on the books that I am reading and sharing those reviews on Goodreads. I was surprised to find that I really enjoy writing reviews. I look forward to completing a few more reviews this year. If you are active on Goodreads you can find me at https://www.goodreads.com/shari-marshall.

Well, if we were having coffee, it would be time for me to pass you the coffee pot and sit back and listen to your coffee news.

  1. Hi Shari.
You must have a subscription to all these different coffees. They would be wasted on me I fear as I can’t taste much difference in coffees. But teas, the taste of teas are mild enough for me to taste the differences and I enjoy the taste more than coffee. Plus I can drink it pretty much all I like where even light coffee starts tearing into my stomach pretty quickly so I barely finish 2 cups a day.
You amaze me. After even the lighter writing work I do, I’m often to brain-drained to think about another story for a while but here you are taking a break from one to start another.
I’m so looking forward to seeing that beta version of your newest story.
I predict a great 2022 for the Marshall family.
    Blessings.

    1. Hello Gary, do you know what just happened? As I was reading about your preference for tea I started to think about my year of coffees and a few teas would be a great idea. I have a taster pack from David’s tea with 12 flavours in it. I think that I will include those at some point this year. Thank you for the inspiration.

I love getting lost in a good story idea, mine or someone else’s idea.

Just waiting for my Christmas reader to get back to me and then I will be in touch about forwarding my story to you.

Thanks for stopping in. Heading your way now for a virtual coffee/tea.

  2. You are a master of describing scents and taste, I have often thought about that while reading your blog! A year of coffee in the virtual world sounds like a great idea. I am making it a priority to mak a coffee share every weekend, and most of the time that is it, I sometimes post more, but rarely. Life is busy for most of us parents, right? As it should be. Looking forward to having coffee with you soon again. Cheers to a successful 2022!

    1. Thanks for stopping in Maria. I look forward to virtual coffees with you. Yes, you are right about a busy parenting life. We will miss it though when those little ones demand less of our time… Have a great week.

  3. Here’s to a great 2022. I’ve always known grasshopper pie to definitely be mint infused. I’m not always a fan of flavored coffee as far as my brewed coffee goes. It would have to be subtle, no fruit or nut flavors…lol. I would do mint, or chocolate or something like that.

    1. Thanks for stopping in Kirstin. I actually have a couple of mint chocolate flavoured coffees, haha. I’m not a big mint fan but they aren’t a bad coffee to sip.

      Have a great week.
