This year I have been writing a novel and today I have a question for you.
What draws you to buy a book? Is it the title that draws you in? Maybe it is the cover or the blurb describing the book? Perhaps it is the price? Or is there something else entirely that draws you in? If it is the cover that draws you in, what is it about the cover: colour, image, title and image place meant, font…?
I’m asking you these questions this week because soon I will be shifting gears from writing into book packaging. This whole idea of the book jacket is a whole new world for me as a writer. Sure, I have been a reader for a long time but I can’t say I have actively paid attention to what draws me to a book. The book jacket is going to be a scary and exciting adventure just like writing the novel has been.
What are your writing experiences with book covers or images for your writing?
