C – Character

This year at Brewing Coffee, Twisting Words & Breaking Pencils my theme is “this year I am writing a novel.” So, in light of that I decided to try and keep to the theme a bit with my A to Z topic. I decided on using writing words that start with each letter of the alphabet to create short posts.

C – Character

She pushed her glitter rimmed glasses up the bridge of her nose, typically an unconscious action that marked her displeasure. However, today it was a pre-set message to the silent figure sitting in the corner sipping coffee. Without notice he walked out carrying a small shoulder bag. Cinnamon looked at the man in front of her and whispered, “no deal!” before she threw her head back and howled with laughter. Tears came unbidden to her eyes as she laughed and laughed. Then like the flip of a switch she went silent and serious.

She locked him in her gaze and stepped close. In such close proximity the man noticed a soft scent of cinnamon wafting from her person. He wondered briefly if it was the shampoo she used to wash her long blue-silver hair. He was so lost in the moment that he didn’t noticed her raising her slender arms on either side of him. He didn’t register that the full body black cloak she wore has also risen with her arms. A slight feeling of alarm started to tickle as the corner of her lush lips pulled into a smirk, but by then it was too late. In a simultaneous motion she winked closing the cloak around them as she twisted and with a small poof they disappeared!
