Sighing into my Coffee

This morning I have spent more time sighing into my coffee then anything else. I’m exhausted this morning. It has been a bit of a long week and I think it felt even longer because last week felt so fast. Anyway, my youngest boy has been sick all week and his nightly coughing is a sleeping disaster for the whole family. And then when the cough settles and I think he is asleep I drift off and there he is telling me that he almost threw up. Almost? Really? Heavy sigh, what is sleep anyway right? Back to bed we go little man and he is asleep in seconds; me not so much.

This morning I have spent more time sighing into my coffee then anything else. I think I am catching the youngest cold. My older boy had the sniffles but I threw the honey, ginger, and lemon hot drink at him along with a few nights of medicine and fingers crossed it has passed him by. I am happy about that. I think if I get a few extra minutes of sleep I might get lucky too.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that this morning I have spent more time sighing into my coffee then anything else.

If we were having coffee I would ask you to excuse me if my eyes slid close while I listen to you detail your week.

  1. When I was still a new father, our daughter came along to change all the rules we learned with our first born. She just did not need to sleep and if she was awake at 2 am, then some adult had to be there with her. I worked out of our home while my wife was in regular employment and had to, yes, had to get sleep to do her job, so the 2am shift was mine by default, sick or just ready to rock and roll, she was my job each way-too-early morning. Now, she’s almost 26 and we love her dearly even if she doesn’t need us at 2am any more. Even so, if I could, I’d go back for a few more of those wee hour encounters with my girl child.

Worry not about closing those eyes. Mine would likely be closed too.
    Blessings.
