A Question

The question: How does writing, in whatever form you use, help you?

For me, writing is such a great way to vent, explore, and understand depending on what I’m writing. When I’m doing creative writing I find that it is a wonderful help for switching my thought patterns. It drags me out of anxious thought patterns and takes me to somewhere new and fresh. It can make me feel productive, it challenges me in a positive way and I enjoy it.

Writing can be as private or as public as I want. When I first started blogging in 2015 I had no idea what it was about. What I found was that blogging and the blogging community are fantastic and supportive. There are so many wonderful writers and so many topics. It is a great place to lose oneself in words.

How about you? How does writing help you?

  1. I have always been writing. Stories in spare time at school, diaries at various points in my life, blogs in more recent years. Now I’m trying fiction writing. Not sure if I will ever be any good but it’s exciting and challenging and fun.

  2. Writing has been a lot of things to me over the years. Cathartic many times; a way to express myself when I felt no one knew I even existed; and a release of my creative side when I wasn’t performing. I started my blog(s) in 2011. Except for AtoZ, I wasn’t writing every day, but when I did and my readership grew, I grew.
I’ve had the writing bug in me since way back. I remember some of the things I did.

In all honesty, I have my father to thank. He told me stories at bedtime, rarely read from a book, and he allowed me to add things in. Then I found out he was a frustrated writer; poetry, short stories, humor. He would just squirrel them away. He shared enough with me. After he passed, I found a lot more.
