Coffee, Cocoa & Melting Snowmen

That scent of coffee is mixed with a cocoa smell this morning. It is the perfect time of year to mix a little hot chocolate into the coffee. It isn’t anything to fancy; there is no whip cream or chocolate drizzle and there is no chocolate sprinkles either. It is just a nice simple flavour change to in the coffee mug. In December you can’t go wrong with hot chocolate. Next time I think we should try our coffee with After Eight Hot Chocolate mixed in. Would you like a shortbread melting snowman cookie?

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I have been working a bit on the Christmas House. Progress has been slow, but here are a few pictures. As you will see Mr. and Mrs. Claus are checking out the progress on the new joint workshop (upstairs) and bake shop (downstairs).

I posted about my first dollhouse in 2017: Miniature Toy House  and Miniatures. It really is a fun hobby.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that we have had snow since November 2. It snowed in October a couple times but it melted, this November snow stayed. Looks like it is going to be another long winter. The kids love it: snow forts, sledding, snowmen… They love the hot chocolate after a long outside adventure. We have a coffee crisp hot chocolate right now and it is truly delicious. The holiday season is on us now.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that November was Family Violence Prevention Month. I was lucky enough to attend the Diverse Voices Conference in November. It is such a great Domestic Violence Conference with great speakers, information, wonderful networking opportunities, and an environment full of people passionate about making a difference in the realm of domestic violence.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that we put up our Christmas decorations last weekend and later today we are planning to make our gingerbread house. The holiday fun doesn’t stop there. We have plans to make a Christmas cake next week and of course there is sledding, Santa pictures and Christmas light looking.

If we were having coffee I would tell you that I am still thinking of trying my hand at post-a-day blogging starting in January and part of that plan is to be at coffee share more than once a month. Now, if we were having coffee I would ask you how you have been since we had coffee last?

  1. Snow all November? Too early for me! But it does look like we have an early winter here on the East Coast as well. Looks like the Christmas house is coming along nicely, even if slowly.

  4. Wow, you have the holiday planning down. No last minute craziness! Do you have recipe for those adorable melting snowmen? So festive.

    1. I do have recipe, hmm, do you need the cookie recipe of just the decoration items. It is a simple shortbread recipe. For the decorations I used white chocolate melts; stick the marshmallow into the hot chocolate as soon as you pour it on the cookie; coloured chocolate melts for the rest nose, arms, scarf, eyes and buttons and just letting it turn out as it pleases.

  6. Sharri I love your dolls house and the shortbread melting moment cookie makes me want to munch straight into them. Good on you for getting the decorations up. I was going to do that this weekend but so far have not got there. Have a great time in the workup to the holiday season. thanks for coffee.

    1. Glad you are back Irene. As for the decorations, just do what you can when you can so that it is enjoyable for you. We didn’t go crazy with decorations this year and the 8 and 5 year old hung the tree ornaments so it all has a very original feel and has allowed us to enjoy a few other activities as well.   8. Hi Shari. I love your melting snow men biscuits which are very apt for our Australian Christmases. I am melting as we speak. We often spend Christmas Day in my aunt’s pool.
    We need to get into the Christmas spirit here, but these days the end of year dance and music concerts seem to be as much a part of that as baking the Christmas foods.
    Oh yes. There’s also the pre-Christmas clean-up which should be higher up the agenda than it is.

    1. Melting at Christmas for people, I can’t imagine! We have had snow since November 1 and it will stay for months. Christmas around a pool sounds like it could be a lot of fun. You have a great week too!

      1. The pool is a fantastic connecting point for different generations and my kids have been entertained by my younger cousins who have more energy which has been a relief. Some years who can almost see the steam rising as the hot bodies enter the water. Phew!
