A Lesson in Swinging: Hold On

swing 1

The swing glided back.

The swing zoomed forward, but this time the swing went back without its rider! The rider continued to zoom forward out of the swing’s seat. The rider’s body was flat, flying through the air being led by the feet. Imagine the rider seeing the clouds above flying behind the top of his head in his plight from the swing.

Ah, gravity. What goes up must come down, as must the rider. Feet, body and head grind into the dirt, but not in a forward motion. Instead the rider drops out of the sky with a thump.

  1. When I was a kid, I liked to jump off of the swings to see how far UI could get. One swing set faced a fence and my goal was to fly over the fence… I never quite made it, but I did hit it a few times, fingers hanging. Funny little story 🙂

    1. Purposefully jumping off the swing was fun, I agree. However, this poor little didn’t mean too leave the swing, but hadn’t figured out how to hold on. He has been back on the swings of course, but hasn’t started to jump off willingly yet.
